Hmmmm, big black X, sounds even better than my black hood. I wonder...

Anyone got a picture of that, uh, Tom? :D

Dave Dralle of Dralle Engineering in California?

Jack Launtz 02-29-2008 06:15 AM

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I have a large print of the car in yellow--too large to scan. If Tom can't post it, I'll see if I can take a picture of the picture. It's not too clear to begin with, so I don't know how it will come out.

I think it was `67 - `83, so 16 years! WOW.

Jack, maybe you have some of the same photos I have of Dralle racing 3020. Some of mine show the car in the middle of a lurid slide in the dirt at some CA locale. Now why do you think he didn't share THAT photo with the Kirkhams? It's in remarkably sharp focus...

Excaliber 02-29-2008 04:35 PM

A little 'agriculural' work with 3020? Done some myself...

I've searched the net in vain for a pic of 3020 yellow with a black X on the hood, sure would like to see that!

I think that it is flashed in this video..............
Ford Legends: '65 427 Competition Cobra by Carroll Shelby

Slither 02-29-2008 06:50 PM

Nedsel, any way to post THAT picture?

Nedsel 02-29-2008 09:06 PM

The picture is, of course, old. Hence it's not digital. Slight other problem - it's at home in CA while I am temporarily on the other coast. Maybe in a few months...?

Excaliber 02-29-2008 09:20 PM

Man I shudder at the thought of dragging out some of my old pics and going through the digitizing process. But it has to be done for some pic's I can think of. A LOT of work, but if it's good history, it's worth the effort.

1985 CCX, thanks for the U Tube link, I was able to capture a still from the video, here it is.

I think the only photo I have is the one that Slither provided. I'll take a look when I get home. I haven't seen the ones that Ned has. (Maybe I don't want to?) Seriously though Ned, I'd love a copy of them when you get back to the left coast.

Remind me next time I see you, Jack. It'll get done.

Tom Kirkham 03-01-2008 11:50 AM

I am working on getting it scanned.

VRM 03-22-2008 01:11 AM

I would pick the AC A98 Coupe.

I like green...and I love the styling of the car.

I might also go for a BRG slabside with a tan interior. But I am also a fan of the Targa cars... So many choices!!

I also agree with Excaliber - I like 3035 'back in the day'. Hey - those 3035 pics look familiar!!! ;)

I've had some dealings with Squier Design. I have made three or four orders with them for various projects. I provided my own artwork and they printed what I sent. Their print work is good, but most of the orders were delayed because they just didn't get around to printing them.
I was also requested by Mike Squier to provide artwork for the Scuderia SSS flag for the Ferrari Breadvan. I agreed, and told them that they could pay me, or give me contact info for the restorer and a couple of SSS flags.

Well, I got a rather terse email from Rita Squier demanding payment for the last job I had printed, and I told her that I was still waiting for the promised contact info. I did get a $20 discount on my order, but I had explained when I sent the art what my art/research rates were (and they were higher than $10 per hour). I was also told by Rita that they did not use my artwork - and that what they sent was slightly different than what I had provided them. Oddly enough - the picture that they provided me (and that they were probably working from) was very wrong, and certainly lacking certain details.

I also just found out that they lied about doing the art for the Breadvan - the car was in the Netherlands at the time for some nose rework, and they did nothing with the SSS stickers.

I'm sure others have been very happy with Squier Design. I'm a pretty patient person, and I try to be up front and honest about whatever I do. After my experience I don't think Squier does the same, and I have no intention of ever doing business with them again. I have also found out the some Kinkos will do adhesive vinyl to order. Just tell them the diameter of meatball you want and they will churn it out for you. They can do letters and numbers as well. Just pick a font - use MS Word and find something you like.

Finishline has some good decals as well. I've never worked with them personally, but a couple of friends have been very happy with what they got.

Steve
