Can ya help me ID this rear
have a Jag rear and cant seem to ID it ...I cant seem to upload pics right now either but there are the numbers
G then 4HV 004 does this make any sense? Ill post pics when I can |

When I was communicating with I believe his name was Mike at CWI, he told me the casting number were worthless for the most part. He wanted a physical description of the outside, seems a primary difference is the number and pattern of the reinforcement ribs on the outside. Below is a pic of the exterior of mine which turned out to be most likely from a mid-80s XJS with tapered bearings, and was actually a Dana. The way he talked, the only real way you identify them was open them up. The stamped tag bolted to the rear cover is helpful in identifying the ratio, as well as if it is an open or a BPL PowrLok diff.

Solid rotors, Girling calipers, looks just like my E type series II setup.

See how it how it has the 3 thinner ribs on the drivers side versus the one really thick one on mine. I think that is what he described as being the pre 68-69 E-type. Looks relatively clean and complete, even the rotors look to be close to the full thickness.

Early "E" types (Series I) had the Dunlop calipers with the bolt on aluminum pistons in cast iron frames. These are the one piece aluminum Girling calipers, they're Series II pieces.

An easy way is the front input flange on the Dana is the square one and the round flange is the Salisbury. Also the Dana Discs have to have two holes in them in order to facilitate removal.
