condolences
To the Coddingtons,
Our thoughts are with you at this sad time, Always remember that he has bought so much happyness to the automotive world. Stay happy stay stong remember the fun times. John and Kim Barker Life is fast party hard. |
Perforated ulcer is what I heard. He is credited with some very influential hot rods and is really the man of billet wheels. Sad to loose any good gearheads.

Way too young and talented to go so early.
I wonder if my Hawaiian shirts will now go up in value? I only have about 4, but when I wear one, I have about 6 friends that always call me "Boyd". |
Boyd Coddington
I understand it was complications from diabetes. Coddington had been
severely diabetic for years and this can lead to serious problems if surgery is required. Coddington underwent a surgical proceedure from which he never recovered. ....Fred |
Here's a photo of Boyd on the Salt Flats at the last--2007--Bonneville Speedweeks. He's filming a piece on his wife running the Ecotec powered T. Note the support socks, or hose, he's wearing. This reflects the diabetic condition that ultimately resulted in his death.

My sympathies to the Coddington family. Boyd did some outstanding work. Brought up some good talent: Chip Foose used to work for him, as did Jesse James.

Our deepest sympathies from my family!! we have lost a legend!!
He will be missed.. |
I wonder what kind of procedure he went through....I have diabetes and am going to have gastric bypass on the 27th....I'll lose alot of weight and also lose my diabetes too within a few months....It looks as though he had what I have on my legs but it has gone away..It's called lymphadema..That's when your legs swell up and there's a redness around the lower legs and ankles..The socks keep the legs from swelling so much...About $85 a pair for those socks...Yes, Boyd Coddington is definitley going to be a loss to the auto world...I heard that he was very difficult to work for...Dave

Well so far I've heard:
1. Perforated ulcer 2. Liver failure 3. Diabetes Guess we'll have to await some kind of official report. |
I also heard he didn't make the Roadster show this year. It goes to show if you don't have your health nothing else matters.
