That won't be necessary RonNichols. Just take photos of the procedure so we can better visualize it and post when it's all over.

Thanks.

If you really want to get the most out of your motor, start with the exhaust. Otherwise, you just trying to exhale through a straw.

Dyno comparisons later this month.

I have a set of stock SPF sidepipes. Bring your car down and we will do a back to back dyno test with only changing the sidepipes.

Excellent Mr. Oz. Actually, I have a second pair that I was working on until yesterday. They will be cut up and redone with a weld on merge collector from Cone Engineering and a 3.5" louvered bore muffler. If you don't mind, and you have hot gloves, we can kill three birds with one stone.

I have a side pipe swap down to about 35 minutes and I don't even unstrap the car from my dyno. I that you in your avatar? You are a fine looking man.:D

Ok! I'll be there with bells and whistles on! nd yes, thank you. I do consider myself a very handsome gentleman.

I knew you guys were being to nice to me to trust you. When I saw serious input from you guys, I figured it was only a matter of time before a trap was sprung.

HUH ??????????????

I just want a way that I "practically" shut up the noise from blowby from my sidepipes.

That's it.

Backdraft Racing #139.

RonNichoIs 04-02-2008 01:53 PM

When you say "blowby", are you mean the "fluttering" noise you might hear when letting off the throttle? If so, there may be a gasket leak somwhere in the system to the heads allowing air to be sucked into the exhaust. If you are talking about it just being too loud, then more muffling is needed, and not as easy to remedy without removal.

CHRIS DAMSCH 04-02-2008 02:39 PM

I believe the earlier backdrafts have slip fits for the header to sidepipe connection. It could be the sound of the exhaust leaking there. A couple of our local guys with the backdrafts had flanges made up so the connection can be sealed.

RonNichoIs 04-02-2008 04:43 PM

Thanks Chriss. Did those pipes make the noise that I think was being referring to?

CHANMADD 04-02-2008 04:56 PM

I have the slip fit type at the collector. They work great at the track, just slip the sidepipe off and you've got an open header/collector,,and it sounds awesome!!

Would it do the same thing if you really worked the connection hard to get a super tight fit? Maybe wrapped the pipe with something so it would hit the sides? Wouldn't a loose, sloppy fit rattle and flutter?

greg schroeder 04-03-2008 06:23 PM

I have a set of stainless side pipes from www.buckshotracefab.com , 4,000 dollars :JEKYLHYDE , for my Superformance. They're ok, louder, more power. It took three jet sizes up to match the air fuel ratio of the Superformance side pipes.

Here's a large res. image.

Ronnie,

What noise are you referring too?

The new mufflers are pretty wicked sounding. We'll see how much I have to rejet very soon.

Chris,
You know...a fluttering noise...kinda like taking a blade of grass and blowing to make a noise....remember when you were a boy?

Randall,
Lighten up a bit, I am merely trying to help a less experienced cobra owner to more fully enjoy the cobra experience. You have gone overboard and since we are close personal friends....please take your meds, you know what happens if you don't:JEKYLHYDE.....hoosegow???? Is that your special place? Now please lets keep this thread on topic.
Your buddy,
Ronni

RonNichols 04-04-2008 08:30 PM

Sorry Ronni,

I literally am on meds right now. I had outpatient surgery today that didn't go to well, hence my absence from posting between 10-4. Its just frustrating to have posts go awry on other forums as well. Its been one of those cumulative days. At least my only shotgun is a youth version so my toe doesn't fit well in the trigger guard.:D

Ooops,
R

Carmine, who is Performance Engineering? They are not one of my dealers, & those aren't my mufflers you are talking about. No complaints to date.
