mercman, unwise - no need to use the power..and I dont waste money - pay extra for a name like Shelby or Roush engines that are really built by others..... I appeciate, reach for great instead of good, understand, like superior engine chemistry, just listeneing to the engine power and knowing the power is there is the "o well to each his own". No bragging, - just conveying knowledge.and Value. Facts - homework on Shelby related business ethics, BS, leaning on folks, Reselling products at higher prices because the Shelby name is on a part, Fiberglass or alumimum body ? He was hero in the 60s, and I respect the mans accoplishments as a racer, marketing wizard back in the day, but now others trying to leverage name.

A lot of people buy the biggest and baddest just so they can say they have it..others buy the biggest and baddest so they can use it to blow the doors off others who want to challenge them, I like to think I am in the latter category while trying to be discreet as possible**)
Like the old saying goes--do you need it no.. do you want it hell yes..
Whatever the reason anyone buys what they buy is their decision and since it's their money what the hell ..let um have some fun..:3DSMILE:

When I can come up with some more money I would like a Kirkham with a 482 KC in it.. so I can say yes it's aluminum and yes it's got a 427 plus some.. will I use it..only when necessary which hopefully will be often.:)

It's better to have it and not need it................

Keith da MAN

Keith is THE MAN
He's about to start building my 482 fi (Mass-flo) for a Kirkham.
I've been in correspondence with him by email and telephone since last November on all the details of the project - he always answers immediately; always extremely helpful and courteous. Boy does he know his stuff! Otomix is spot on. Now I may not be the best engineer on this forum, but having invested for over 20 years in parts of the world I can't pronounce, I can sense quality and good character a mile off! His business model is purely quality-driven, and part of that is not to rip off the client.

Soon as we do this one, I'm coming back for more...

Anyway, stop distracting da man and let him get on with my 482!

TL,

That will be a sweet car!!!

In the long run

My 351 was built by KC late in 1999. I am not the original owner. It has only got 8,000 miles on it but they are mostly put on at the race track. It runs like a swiss watch.

Most important I have called KC on several occations with questions. They alway answer the phone, are professional and provide very satisfacotry answers. Even when my questions may not seem too smart.

When I get ready for a freshen up or new motor I will gladly pay shipping from Arkansas!

I will put my Roush up against anybodys motor, and from the cost quoted in the first post for a KC motor of similar parts and hp / tq #'s, I would say they are pretty close in price.

I don't understand why people have to throw down Roush all the time when the discussion of engines come up. I am sure KC builds a great motor, but so does Roush.

As far as being built by "someone else", they are handbuilt and dynoed at Roush and come with a 2 year 24k warranty. I can call them right now and discuss my motor and they know exactly what is in it, and who built it by the serial number on it. I have discussed carb options, fuel options etc... and they have been good to me. My.02

I ordered a complete driveline from Lance @ K.C. this week.

They're going to build the whole setup from engine to trans: 482 Shelby w/Mass-flo, Mcloed - Lakewood coupling to TKO 600.

The price (a lot) was less than what I could have pieced all this together for. I have no doubt it was a wise decision.

Roush is a great choice as well, I've yet to hear anything but praise for them.

bret a ewing 03-14-2008 09:15 PM

Nothin' wrong with Roush, this thread is just more about KC.

I own a Roush motor, great machinery.

He's got some cool hats.

Keith..You don't have to defend your work to anyone...It speaks for itself...Quality is King and you're the KING!!!! Dave

undy 03-15-2008 04:19 AM

Keith's aleays eager to add to posts and help board members with suggestions. We never get Jack, when it comes to Roush.:LOL::D

J/K,
Dave

BTW.. I think Roush, from what I hear, is a superb product.

Nothing like talking to the man himself..instead of a recorder which has become the norm for most in business today

trs900 03-15-2008 07:29 AM

I have noticed that another unnamed engine builder has been very quiet lately.. LOL

madmaxx 03-15-2008 09:16 AM

Roush and KC are both junk, I prefer Thunderbolt engine and transmission, they keep the Yee Haw in your motor and transmission!!!!
