I don't care about the cost of gas for the cobra, but like others, my Dodge 3500 burns the diesel, which hurts my wallet at the pump. I just don't understand why the cheapest to produce fuel is the highest (I understand supply vs demand and such...but this is simple market rape). Oh well, at this rate it will be cheaper to drive the cobra then the truck...hows that doing;)

The price of fuel is one of the reasons I bought an economy car at least compared to my truck and it even has a/c a Gt 500 **) I have noticed the gas gauge must be defective as it seems to be constantly moving towards the empty side.

Unfortunately due to the higher cost of fuel everything else is going up in price also, so you are getting raped more than once..everytime we go grocery shopping it seems the prices have increased and this is what is hurting average Americans especially when you take a food bill for family of 4-6 people

The problem here is that about 75-80% of that is tax. There is a fuel duty tax and then we have to pay purchase tax on top of that, so even our tax is being taxed :mad::mad:

If I didn't run a business here, I'm pretty certain I would leave. :(

We'll probably have to change over to methanol within the next ten years, especially the hobby car enthusiast. We know it works (just look at how sprint cars run),but the fuel mileage will be way less. I don't know how expensive methanol is, but it's getting closer to the price of gas every day.
There are plenty of rich *****es in our country who have thousands of shares of oil company stocks who applaud the daily increase in the price of oil. We cannot expect much help from the government either, because they will not allow domestic oil drilling and are taxing the $hit out of our oil consumption. I think we're just gonna have to go with the flow (no pun intended) until some creative mechanical minds lead the way with methanol. Until then, we'll just have to do without other luxuries to pay the weekly fuel bill.

For the recreational vehicles, the gas price is not influencing the limited driving mileage, especially when the North East driving season is approx April 1 to Nov 1.

Daily driver being a 4 cyl Honda, still no impact, but I attempt to plan my local trips better.

COSTCO price is in North Central CT , at the wholesale level to the gas retailer, zone pricing is used. CT has a Gross Receipts Earnings Tax which is a % of the delivered price at the Distributors tanks, as the distributors cost increases, corresponding increase in the tax

Many analysts believe oil is overvalued, arguing that oil supplies are at high levels and the demand is falling. In its latest inventory report, the Energy Department said overall demand for oil dropped 3.4 percent over the last four weeks compared to the same period last year.

"We don't see oil demand accelerating while the price has its foot on the throat of consumers," said Tim Evans, an analyst at Citigroup Inc., in a research note.

Oil companies are reporting record profits each quarter, yet they say they are not gouging the consumer. If they are paying more for crude oil and demand is falling how can they keep making more money?

I could buy 69,637 gallons of the Sonoco 93 octane at $3.59 which would equal the cost of one of my 3 kids college experience, or to put it another way i could buy 2785 gallons of gas for the cost of a single cosmetic procedure my wife has had. So... in other words, i am not planning to drive one mile less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the short term, flex fuels sounds like a good idea to me. Like E85. Anything to reduce the use of oil from places like the middle east. But we need to get cooking on cellulosic ethanol, using stuff like switch grass, corn junk (everything bur the kernel), etc. We need to put the heat on Congress (forget trying to get the White House to do anything that makes sense. Making ethanol can be made much cheaper and cleaner. Someday, I can see The Beast burning this stuff. I'm thinking of a larger gas tank anyway! ;) Rich

They are the ones that prevent us from drilling on US territory, for our own oil, which I might add the US has an abundance of oil to be harvested, That would last us 100's and 100's of years, along with not letting oil companies build new refineries due to alleged, to much pollution and ecological impacts. Bly, What?? You think the enviromentalists and their concerns are driving the price of gas up?? In my opinion, it appears we have a situation caused by the greed of the oil companies, non-restictive commodity speculation and cartels cutting back on production to get their piece of the pie. By all rights, in this day of dependence upon oil based fuels, oil should be considered a necessary resource barred from commodity speculation (as is water). Exxon, etc. would not be posting such enormous profits if there wasn't enormous markup. Going to E-85 and/or corn or switch blade grass fuels is economically and enviromentally a bigger disaster. Recently, CNN has been running a program about E-85 and other bio-fuels. The conclusion is the amount of coal based energy being used to produce coupled with the lower gas mileage from E-85 is actually a negative. The show points out that coal burning energy producing plants need to be replaced with cleaner fuel plants (i.e nuclear) and other sources of primary fuels for automobiles,etc. need to be found. Interestingly, Honda has a pilot program which will utilize natural gas (which we have plenty of without importing anything) as a base for the production of hydrogen. Supposedly, Honda has a generator that plugs into a 110 volt receptacle and converts enough hydrogen to power the car and produce energy to power the house. So, get rid of the commodity trading on oil; move toward alternative cleaner fuels; put a plug in the outflow of money into the middle east; decrease our dept to foreign financial entities. There will always be gasoline available but at least they won't have us by the b....s anymore. Just my two cents and thanks for the soap box.

Likely, you have better gas then the crap we can buy. My car guy friends say where we live has the worst gas they've ever seen. 87 octane that acts like 84 octane. I just payed $7.20 gal for 100 octane. 42 gallon tank. Purrs like a kitten though. Then add Real Lead, and Sta-bil. The math begins to require a calculator.

mtml427, Yes i do think the enviromentalists have a large part of the blame for oil being so costly.If the US could have been building new refineries and drilling on our own territories for the last 30+ years, that is how long oil companies have been battling this issue, we would not be in this oil mess that we are now. With us being able to produce the greater percentage of oil we use rather than import the larger %,the OPEC gang would not be able to sell their oil for as much as they are now. We would have them by the b___s!! We are dependant on foriegn oil because we can not get to our own....
On everything else I agree, E-85 is a complete mess, and why is everybody sooo scared of nuclear energy? Cleanest and safest source of energy there is, Dont get it....
