Trailer Tips
I have to trailer my car about 80 miles (then 80 miles back) on Wednesday. I've rented an open trailer (couldn't find an enclosed trailer for rent). It's going to snow here in Missouri on Tuesday - and I have to make the trip on Wednesday. So - can I use the soft top for the trip - or the tonneau cover? Any tips for protecting the car and the paint?
New SPF All tips accepted - and yes I really want a Serpent Express - but I gotta go on Wednesday. |
Do not use a car cover.
OK to use the soft top or tonneau cover but keep the speed down to 60 MPH. If it is not raining or snowing, forget the top or tonneau cover. Congrats on joining the madness! |
Just purchase a large roll of plastic wrap from Home Depot or Lowe's and wrap your cockpit around and underneath the body. This will keep most everything out of the cockpit and you won't have to be concerned with the soft top or tonneau cover flapping in the breeze and scratching your paint.

Thanks - I was not going to use the cover. I wanted to use the top. I've had it on before up to speeds of 70mph - seems very secure. Should I crack the windows a bit, or keep them closed? Should I tape it down to keep it from damaging the paint? Any other words of wisdom? Really worried about the trip. I expect the highway will be a wet from tomorrow's snow.

I'll do the whole car if it would help! |
Mark,
Absolutely! That industrial strength stuff is really tough and durable. You certainly could wrap the whole car if you wanted to. It won't damage your paint for sure. :3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE: |

I'm going to Home Depot in the morning! This place is the best! I'll wrap the cockpit and the front of the car, maybe the back too! I have to go to the Highway Patrol for my initial inspection (for title), Then I guess I'll re-wrap and head home. I'll bet some pictures of the weird wrapped car would amuse everyone! I'll post them on Thursday! |
Kinky!.................
