Did you "go cart" your cobra ?
 
How many of you go carted your frame without the body just to make sure everything was okay before you put the body on ?
I just fired mine up (awesome) its on jack stands , I have fwd gears and rev and I think as long as everything is secured I could go around the block ..
Did you guys all do it or not? WD

wife to put your supper in the microwave and expect you back in a couple of hours.:):):)

ABSOLUTELY! It's one of the major milestones in the build, and you should enjoy it. It's also an excellent time to kinda shake things down, check to make sure everthing is working as it should, etc. Make sure there's nothing loose to fall off. In the excitement of go karting mine, we remembered to remove all the tools laying on the trunk aluminum, but forgot to remove the trans tunnel cover laying loose across the trunk floor. Oops! Also be aware that these things spin the tires pretty easily! :)

I put about 50 miles on the go cart then installed the body and put another 150 miles on it before I did any body work.

One of the things I see people say alot about go carting... they forget to tighten down their passengers belt when nobody is in it and they drag the belt the whole time and then need to replace it! Just somehting else to watch out for in all the excitement! Can't wait to go gokarting one day!!!!!

It is a must to go kart your car. Its a gokart on steroids. And yes you can steer with the rear tires and your right foot. MadDog

If you can, it is better to get the mechanical items working before the body gets in the way. We were only able to check engine and drive train but those were our main concern.

ERA recommends permanently mounting the body to the frame before installing the powertrain, that the car is designed to be built that way. I'm curious, though--have any ERA builders installed the powertrain before the body? If so, I wonder how many have, and the difficulties involved?

I gokarted mine through the condo parking lot where I lived. Then someone called the police and they gave me a warning to stop. It was fun while it lasted.

yes sir.
it does helps find bugs and improve on the settings before installing the body.

In my video you'll hear a strange sound at the end, I forgot to tighten the axle nuts in the rear !

This video shows the FIRST Cobra built using a wrecked 2003 Cobra with only 4k miles on the odometer.
