Guardsman Blue - Pinging Bernie Knight
Bernie,
I am trying to find more info on "Guardsman Blue" and it appears you have already been down this road. Can you help me with a paint number or vehicle code that matches what you found? Is the paint a metallic? Thanks Paul Proefrock HM1078 ps: the address you have on ClubCobra to send you an email isn't working. The PM's don't work either |
I'll be following this. That's the color I'll definitely be going for when I do my car. Of particular interest for me is attaining that blue-green quality I've seen in some of the original cars.
Good luck! |
1964 Ford Guardsman Blue. Code PPG# 12832
Authentic Shelby registry "B" "Guardsman Blue" PPG 12832 |
Unfortunately, there is no "official" Guardsman, there were 3 or 4 formulations of it for Shelby. However, there is a Guardsman Blue specified for the 65 Ford Mustang.

I'm following this thread too!

CSX3002 is the Guardsman Blue I'm after. It looks darker/greener than some other examples of "Guardsman Blue". I know there are differences in monitors, cameras, lighting etc but it's more what I'm searching for. Anybody know what code this would be?

I do not think that CSX3002 today is the color it was back when? Ron might be able to help??????:o

I think you're right Jeff. It has been repainted a few times and it's current Guardsman Blue probably isn't the original color Guardsman Blue. Ron and I talked about it earlier in a couple PM's. It's color has been listed as Guardsman Blue since birth but what "tint" is another story.
What color GB is your car Jeff? Larry |
Hi all,
Firstly my apologies for not seeing this Thread. PM me if you need more detail. Re the Guradsman Blue...%/ I spoke with Kris K. at Shelby when I was considering the Guardsman Blue colour. Kris kindly sent me some details and I was able to match the colour to that colour that CS used on the 427 re build. Here are a few photos from my gallery. I used a pure GM white stripe rather than the Wimbledon white that was my Mustang colour. %/ http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...obra_2_027.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...e_and_Phil.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._3_0441_1_.jpg You can see the colour change under cover and different conditiions http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...6830cobtop.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...rompainter.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...obra_2_128.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...obra_2_017.JPG %/ The PPG code above is the same that I worked with. The white stripes are GM white. As I mentionned in my PM to you Paul - I did not use the wimbledon white - that I had left over from the Musdtang as I felt it looked a little to cream in colour with the Guardsman Blue. The Rookie stripes are Porsche Fly yellow - a PPG colour. They are available from Enzo at Finishline in a static cling stripe. Good luck with your painting. Again sorry I did not see the Thread earlier. To busy looking after my friend Hershal from Az. - see his 'Post' on the 'Australian Forum' You can see how busy we were..:3DSMILE: Bernie |
Thanks Bernie! It's amazing how different your car looks under different lighting conditions. Thanks for posting those photo's

No problem. I was just looking through the photos here and yes the colour does change a little under different light. The real Guardsman Blue colour is very evident when I look at photos outside in the cover of cloudy skies. Bernie |
Is it possible to get the PPG #12832 in touch up form? Spray can, touch up stick, etc????? Thanks :)
