I believe if I am reading the bill correctly it would also do away with the exemption for a new car. I thought it was 4 years but the bill says 6 years. I know the smog is bad down there but taking a bunch of cars off the road isn't going to solve the problem. Shasta County failed the latest air quality tests but much of our smog comes up the valley from Sacramento and I don't see any way it can be stopped at the county line.

You make a good point Ron. The wind patterns being what they may, force or contain a lot of the heat and emmisions to the Northen end of the Valley. Redding and the surrounding area is always 10 degrees hotter on a given day than the Southern part of the Valley.

Maybe they will vote to put up a sign at the county line that says "Sacramento Smog Not Allowed Past This Point".
That oughta do it!

I wish it was that simple. In the Summer when it is 118 here and the smog is so bad you can't see Mt. Shasta at all, I feel almost as if I were back in L.A. on a bad day. Right now this county couldn't afford a sign even if it would work. And two years ago they wasted a ton of money having a group do a study as to why we have so much smog now when there aren't many things around here to create it and they determined that most of it was coming from the Sacramento area. Maybe some big fans to blow it back where it came from. :)
