Original Cobra roll bar question
On the originals, does the bolt that attaches the rear brace to the main roll bar hoop get drilled side to side (horizontal to the ground) or up and down (vertical to the ground)?

Hmmmm.
Mine which is a CSX 47xx series from Shelby is side to side, horizontal to the ground. I would assume that is "original" but don't know for sure.

Bar
Top to bottom on the orig.
Many attached an eye bolt for the shoulder harness.
The reason most including the new Shelby changed because it is dangerous for your helmet and head.
I built 4027 as per. Not a problem.

Straight up and down it will be. Makes the drilling easier too! :)

I'd reconsider that. My buddy in LI (rest his soul) had a Contemporary and was rear ended one day. His head got thrown under the roll bar and the bolt put a nice hole in his skull.

We used to have SCCA cars road legal so you could basically drive them to the track and race them. The issue of caged (roll barred) cars and heads without helmets is obviously an issue. On the street do you want roll over protection and get wacked against the rails of the cage or scare people while driving with your helmet on. Street driven race cars with 50's safety standards, what are you gonna do??
