dkjos "Dick Kjos"
This is a bit of a strange post, so please bear with me...
I'm sorry to have to pass along the news that Dick passed away in February of this year. He had a short fight with cancer and was able to make it back home to ND to spend time with his family before he was gone. In trying to find out a bit more about my father, I spent some time surfing the web and it brought me here. I know that people in an online forum like this can end up a bit like an extended family and I thought you'd like to know. I'm happy to report through that he did manage to finish his Cobra build and had numerous chances to enjoy it. If there are any MN based cobra enthusiasts / friends of his that would be willing to answer a few questions and help the family out with information, it would be very much appreciated. Much obliged, Peter Falk Glendale, AZ |
Peter...I moved your thread to All Cobra Talk. A far more appropriate location for your Dad.
Absolutely one of the great gentlemen of this Club. We knew his situation and many of us tried to make it a bit more comfortable for him here and at Gasholes.com. Yes...your Dad was a Gashole. :) |
and a damn good one

Peter,
Very sorry to hear that news. Why don't you post your questions on this thread and we will all try to help you out with your questions. Jamie |
Much obliged.
The short version is that my aunt has been tasked as my father's executor/personal representative. His cobra is a bit outside the any area of expertise for anyone in the family and I'd like to help point her in the right direction to reputable dealers and appraisers that could help her in it's disposition. And while even as a car neophyte I can appreciate the beauty and passion that he put into the vehicle, I believe it would take a true believer in the first church of cobra to really understand what it is and what should be done with it. In going through his things it was clear that this build meant the world to him. He had notebooks & binders overflowing with notes and ideas as he selected the parts that went into the build. So the questions.... 1) Are there any solid dealers or appraisers that can help in MN? 2) What are the key things to know about a custom build like this that drive the appraisal? 3) Are there any transport companies that can move this safely and securely across the country? I'll be honest, after looking at pictures and seeing what he put into it, I'm having a hard time not asking that it be passed my way as part of the estate. My only fear is that having a non-gearhead driving it would be like having a blind man married to Halle Barry. Sure, everyone would ooh and ah, but you'd never be able to appreciate what you really had in your hands. (I hope that makes sense....) Again, thank you all, especially for the kind responses. The last few weeks have been quite a ride discovering Dick's life and getting to understand him a bit better. |
