Glad that you got it going. Now be sure that you draw yourself a diagram of just how you wired it for future reference in case you need to do something else.

Glad you are up and running. I doubt it was the battery connectors. You shouldn't see 12 volts through them if they were bad. I have gotten bad regulators before, but I would lay may money on the Batt wire to the fuse box, and then back to the battery. Even if there was good connection in the fuse box, there may have been a break in the wire somewhere along the way.

Do like Ron said, and draw a diagram of your changes. It may seem like an easy one to remember, but 5 years from now, after you have made some other changes, it can get confusing.
