SlabSide exhaust manifolds
What were used? Early cars had the little Y that paired cylinders together, and then a tubing Y into the pipes. When did they go to regular one piece manifolds or headers?

If you are referring to street model leaf spring cars, they all used the two piece exhaust manifolds going into two pipes into one. These were produced in the UK and shipped with the car to SA.
Various types of aftermarket header systems may have been installed by owners
BTW, I still haven’t found any bacon on a street 289 :p

Yep, them's the ones. I found a US foundry that will make them, but 500 pieces is the minimum order. Or China for $4.95 each.

If they go into production, I would have interest in a set.
