Hood Latch Receivers

Hi Everyone,

Well I'm at it again. As I get things ready for paint, I still find things that I would to do differently from what the assembly manual says should be done.
In this case, it is the hood latches or, more specifically, the receivers for the hood latches.

B&B suggests just using a die grinder to cut a slot in the lip around the hood cowl for the latch paddles to slid into. While that will work, it also doesn't give as finished look as I would like.

I have thought about using something like the seat belt bevels to cover the hole but the curvature of the lip presents somewhat of a problem in achieving a nice finished look. I have also thought about using some sort of angle iron that I could screw onto the lip. I've checked some of the websites to see if any of them carry anything like the L bracket that is used specifically for the hood latches but haven't found anything other than the cams or locking latches. :(

Anyone one have ideas on how to finish the latch receivers off or a good source for the L bracket?

Any pictures that you may have would be muchly appreciated as well.

Mike

I also have a B&B. I used a small section of angle aluminum for each side. Bolted it on with two 1/4 chrome bolts. It worked out fine. Ron
