Just wanted to post that I have known Peter for over 10 years now. He is the nicest guy you could ever meet. I told him when he was next in town I wanted to take him and his wife Gayle out for a burrito. (Most people don't know it, but Peter spent a good chunk of his life growing up in Mexico). We speak Spanish to each other all the time. Anyway, he then told me he was going to take ME to lunch at Goodwood (a local BBQ joint).
Anyway, I emailed him today about the article and in typical Peter fashion, he just shrugged it off and said, "History speaks for itself." How true. Looking back I wish I could have recorded all the things Peter has told me over the years regarding the Coupe, the Corvette, his racing, and many other things. I should write a book. What a cool guy. I think that sums it up quite well. He is the epitome of cool. Doug |
Met Peter at the Monterey Historics a few years back. The guy is everything Shelby is not - starting with genuine.

Shelby really is interesting character used think he would figure out that claiming something that’s not yours is called stealing.
Not that he stole everything i am sure if we look hard we will find something that belongs to him but you cant go around claiming you created something by your self or even implying you created it your self because all anybodies going to do when they find out is walk the other way when you show up. Ive always heard good things about Peter Brock not so much about Shelby. :( |

April 21, Shelby Distribution USA presented automotive legend Carroll Shelby with a custom Superformance Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.

Dan,
As usual, a contradiction in his history rears it's ugly head. I'll bet poor Shelby is so angry at himself for allowing these things to remain on the web and in the public eye. Bill S. |
Is $helby making the same mistake twice???
Please forgive me if this is covered ground. The picture of ol' $helby leaning on his new Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (as built by Superformance) got me thinking. What happened to the Superformance Brock coupe? There is no mention anywhere on the Superformance site of Pete's involvement in any way with the redesign of the coupe. When this car was introduced they shouted from the rooftops the fact that Pete himself designed the car. Now am I to understand that Superformance got into bed with $helby and were told by him when their lips were firmly planted on the balloon knot that a name change was part of the deal? If this is the case it is amazing the level that this old fart will go to continue his one sided feud with one of the many people most responsible for his legend. The funny part is that if this is indeed the case $helby apparently has no problem putting his name on a car not once but twice that he calls "the biggest mistake I ever made". It also says a lot to me about the people that run Superformance....

Excellent point GT350, a fact that's been bothering ME for awhile as well. What DID happen to the "Brock Coupe". Well theres the picture of Shelby leaning on one from SPF right here in this thread.
The name has been changed to protect the guilty! |
