Who rebuilds Jaguar hubs?
One of my hubs sounds rough and makes a sort of grinding sound when turned. I would like to have it rebuilt before assembling the car. I have the service manual, and like all things Jaguar, the directions are poorly written, special tools are apparently needed, and there are spacing shims and all sorts of things that make what should be an easy job more difficult than it needs to be.
The bottom line is, I don't think I want to do this myself. Does anyone know who rebuilds these hubs? I would prefer someone in the northeast, even better would be someone on Long Island where I live, but I doubt that I can be real choosy. I'll ship the darn thing wherever it needs to go. Anyone have a guess on rebuild cost? Thanks. Doug |
I just had new bearings/seals put in mine a few weeks ago. Here is where I sent them. You have to call Mike as his email doesn't seem to work. The cost was $600, which included shipping and I needed a new seal race on the one hub.

Doug,
I would think your local auto parts store should be able to press out the bearings and install new ones. Rich |
You might try HRE in Freeport. 516-378-5461. It's not a matter of just installing the bearing races. The hub uses spacers which control free play.
