Last days
Hi all,
I just found this photo of a weekend car wash day at home. It was nothing to wash the Cobra and two or three other cars. %/ I realised that this day, was the last time I washed the Cobra and can remember it was also the last time that I drove the Cobra. It was a strange feeling looking at the photo realising that the Cobra has gone...**) I have often wondered if I should have kept it, but space was a minimum and I realised I would not drive it asuch with a GT40 in the garage. Whilst I now have the GT40, I feel that the Cobra was a big part of my life. Having built it over two years from scratch I was attached to it..:3DSMILE: I purchased the body and stored it at McDonald Brothers racing and started the build about 12 months later. That was about 7 years ago.. I must say it was really enjoyable building the car, selecting wheels, engine, interior and paint colour. This was the time that I found the forum. The first time that I realised that I was not alone in my build - that in fact there are thousands of enthusiasts just like me building, driving Cobras. Whilst my 'Post' number is artificially high due to looking at gallery photos, I still have 'Posted' a few thousand entries either asking questions, just chatting, organising or talking about events. I do propose to stay on the forum and will continue to do events in the States such as Santa barbara, SACC, Run N Gun and London Ohio this year. Thanks for all of your help during my build and ownership. Yes I will miss the Cobra - perhaps I'll build another..:3DSMILE: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/IMGP2191.JPG |
Bernie,
I still look at the pictures of mine the day it went into the trailer going to someone elses home. It took me three years to build mine and I do miss it from time to time. Maybe someday I will have another one but not right now. Hell with fuel prices being what they are, it may have holes in the floor for my feet to propel it like Fred Flinstones car.....NOT! |
Bernie if you are ever in the west just let me know and i will bring it out for you to have a play
I can understand that you would miss it i still grin when i see it in the garage on the way to work each day Stilll cant get rid of that silly grin all the best with the 40 Trev |
Bernie,
I still have pictures of mine and miss it more than any other car I ever owned. I have a picture of me driving it into the trailer somewhere around here but just hate to look at it. At least you have the GT-40 and that is a great car. And I especially feel depressed when my cousin sends me pictures of it where they have won at a car show. Ron :) |
Got to love the bike LEANING against the Cobra.
Bernie, where are the NEW pictures? Have you loaded the GT on the boat yet?  See you in London! |
Trev,
Thanks for the offer of the ride in West...**) I still have the spinners sitting on my desk here - there are only three and I was waiting for the fourth from a manufacturer. Think I'll send the three and you can chase up another supplier. Bernie |

Now the bike is worth nearly as much as the car.. It was all part of the Saturday car wash - Anne's BMW, my ute etc. etc. And the other precious thing I'm missing is... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/IMGP2164.JPG |

Yes it's not a good idea to go looking through old car photos. The wish I still had it is a worry - not to mention how much it is worth now.. |

Ken, Now you can be a Grandad quite young..:MECOOL: My 37 year old neighbour has just become a Grand Mother and I'm not sure if she will respond to being called Grandma.. |
My eldest daughter gave birth about 2 months before my 60th birthday so guess I'm old enough to be grandad now, sure sounds weird though. I've known some grandads and grandmas younger than that, early 30's....luckily not for us.
