purchase ??

Ok new to all this. Have been thinking about buying a Cobra Replica for my dad. Ok for me too. What do I need to look out for and what all do I want. I assume this is not an easy quesstion. Power is not extremely important. Condition and reliability is important. I want to stay under 30k... We are both 6'2 and about 215 if that matters. I have seen a few ads list there cars as better for bigger drivers. Well I value you opinions and look forwad to getting cobra. Thanks

You will not get much at that price unless you are a good mechanic and are willing to build/rebuild the car yourself. If you want a driver, be careful what you choose. A fixer upper probably can be had in your price range.

Under 30K, 95% chance will not be safe enough to drive on a farm. Just my two cents, I have driven two under 30K and I thought I was going to push the seat into the trunk I was pushing on the brakes so hard to stop, the other I was surprised it ran it all. That being said I saw a Hurricane with a 289 go for 31K, appeared to be a very nice car never drove it however. Yes they are out there but you definetly limit the possibilities. I would try to get closer to $40K these cars do not depreciate that much and you will recoupe alot of money. You can get a used BDR for 38 to 40K, excellent cars for the money and factory assemlbed and more importantly SAFE to drive.

With the market on these cars being down right now, you should be able to find one to fit your needs. Go on Ebay and start looking. I'm not sure I would buy one off there, but it will give you a good idea of what is available. I've seen quite a few FFR's for just right about $30k that were really nice. You might have to travel a ways to get it, but you can find them. Just do a LOT of research about the options available before you put down your money.

If you are expecting to get a top name car like a SPF for that price, now you are dreaming a bit.

Good luck!
