Squeal/Squeaking noise???
Just a few days ago a strange squealing/squeaking noise started coming from the passenger side of the engine bay (atleast thats the best that I can pinpoint it). It starts with a slow squeaking noise at idle and as you step on the gas it will speed up to a high pitched squealing noise. It's muffled by the sidepipes when you're moving along, but when you slow down its pretty annoying. A similar noise would be if you had low power steering fluid when you tried to make a turn or if you had wet brakes....if that makes sense. Any ideas? Thanks

Alternator bearing? Try removing the belt as a diagnostic.
You might also try 3 ft. of garden hose as a "stethoscope". Put one end to your ear and move the other end around in an attempt to locate the source of the noise.

Verify belt tension as a most common thing. Of thats good then loosen and spin each component by hand to check bearings. Any clues like dim lights or slow cranking, engine temp OK and so on? You will find it. Hope it is an easy fix.

I checked the belt and then engine temp and they are both fine. Could it be air coming from a header or header bolt? Seems like its in that vacinity or at the bottom of the carbs

Do you have a hydrolic throw out bearing inside your bell housing they make noise some times.
