Had to go back to your initial post where you described your car and engine. As a car built in limited numbers and chevy powered - I doubt that your sidepipes could be called universal because most chevy powered cars require custom headers that could be fabbed in a myriad of configurations. Builders/owners that I know only replace the muffler section when the guts get loose and rattle. That means cutting the existing ones out - as well as the turnouts - and welding the new ones in. A good tig welder can make them look nice. The slimlines from Summit are very popular - available in SS that looks "almost" polished.
Hope this helps.

Mine has a slip joint just inside the fender where the four pipes join four pipes coming off the head. It looked like it might possibly be a universal fit with the portion going from there to the heas being engine specific. In looking at the side pipes on various cars they look pretty similar.

Polished works for me, discoloration is battle scars.
Stainless mufflers by Flowmaster have imperfections, but it looks great.

Can you post a pic of your mirrors up close please?

There are two manufacturers of ss pipes for a SPF firefly and gas-n. I bought a pair for a little more muffling and since I was seeing some rust between individual pipes just before the collectors. The ss pipes discolor between the body exit and the collectors, and yes they get very hot but so did the stock steel powder coated pipes. I kind of like the dis coloring, the advantage of the ss pipes is the elimination of rust and the fact that you can polish out scratches...I would be a bit leery of chrome, as I think you have to get the pipes flawlessly clean before chroming (as with any coating process-especially I would think since you are electroplating) and still always have the specter of rust under the chrome...

For those that want to remove the discoloration from their Stainless sidepipes:

Compound 302.

This stuff is amazing. Paint it on, allow to stand for a couple minutes, wash off with water, then wash off with dish soap and water. Thats it!! Available from Amazon:

Terry has the mirrors.
Doesn't look like you have wind wings and brackets right now, you'll need those.

Better picture of pipes and mirrors.

Would love to see your car next season.

Roy do you mean I need the side wings to mount the mirror or just for my comfort?

Terry can help you either way, but are there set screws in your windframe ?
I'm thinking you don't want to be drilling there. Mine mounted to wind wing hardware.

t walgamuth 09-12-2018 05:37 PM

I guess there are no set screws. I was assuming I'd need to drill some.
