I think the wheels look like crap.
|
I think it's awesome looking. I really like the black wheels...they seem to fit the car well. As Dave mentioned, Canepa had black wheels on the dark blue car that was for sale last year and it was impressive in person.

I like this shot it shows the curve of its belly and it had its Sunbursts then.

Those wheels are worse than crap! :D
|
What's interesting is that the picture of the spare tire in the trunk shows a sunburst wheel...
|
It looks awesome with the Sunburst's on. The black just looks like somebody went cheap.

The navy blue car Bruce sold at Monterey last August, which also had the black wheels, achieved a nice round number right at 7 figures. Which is why at last report Bruce's price for this one was $200K more.

The trend with this company looks to be black alumium replacement wheels when selling CSX cars from the 60's. If they do not go with the sale they must be selling off on the side for big$$$$.
SAAC32 CSX3112 had the original wheels now they are aluminum and black. |

That's just a guess now :MECOOL: |

Maybe Canepa sells the wheels separately to make more money or maybe he collects them. |

No matter what wheels he puts on it, it's a damn fine car and I would be proud to build a house around it! |
hmm...tough bunch of spectators in the first few rows here.

Maybe....the orig wheels "magnaflux'd" with too many weaknesses (like most of the orig mag wheels that you see for sale) and felt safer with modern wheels. Like A-Snake said, I would think the orig wheels came with the deal. Or, if I spent a megabuck on the car, it's chump change to get a set of Sunbursts, if that's what I wanted. As far as "sucker".... well, I'll tell you I judged this car in Concours last year, and, unless the car was "de-restored" since then... it was one fine automobile worth top dollar. |

I guess you missed this eariler post from Nedsel; "The navy blue car Bruce sold at Monterey last August, which also had the black wheels, achieved a nice round number right at 7 figures. Which is why at last report Bruce's price for this one was $200K more." __________________ Ned Scudder |

My "sucker" comment was said very tongue in cheek. Sarcasm does not come across well online. I don't know the Canepa operation at all, but I've personally seen many people in my life try to squeeze every last buck out of anything that could be squeezed. An extra $5,000 is an extra $5,000. While it's not $5,000, wasn't ex-Tyco exec Dennis Kozlowski who wanted to save a $1,000,000 on taxes with paintings he bought, even though he made "bazillions" of dollars. |
