Someone help explain why....

I was looking into building a Hurricane kit in a couple of years, but with the "FOR SALE" - "NOT FOR SALE" issue I started looking at other manufactures (just incase), such as Unique or Shell Valley which were edged out by the Hurricane only slightly. Anyway, I started looking at the used market for ideas and comparisons on "COBRACOUNTRY" and this site as well, and was wondering if anyone could help me understand why you see alot of FFR's, half as many Superformance cars, very few Shell Valley and Era cars, and fewer Unique's and Lonestar cars and rarely a Kirkham or two. Almost to the point if you add all the rest up they would equal or come close to the FFR's for sale. Just curious as to why the ratio differences.

Hope to see some of you all in LONDON....

The dispersion of cars for sale just about mirrors the total population for each brand.... so it does make sense.

Well over 5-6K FFR kits have been sold. You do the math and there is just more on the market. ERA and Kirkham are more hand-built (and more expensive as a result of the materials/workmanship involved). Superformance is approaching their 3,000 car (over a 12 year period or thereabouts)...all hand assembled on dollies/assembly line, hence the "manufactured replica" tag. Shell Valley/B&B sell fewer kits than FFR.

It's all in the numbers.

I suspect pricing plays a part too.

Also, lots of FFR builders enjoy the build more than the drive.

I know one guy that has built two and each has been up for sale within the first three months post build. He just likes to build them.
