By Pass hose- Should I use it or Block off?
Hey Guy's I'm trying to complete my motor and it's accessories. Should I use the by pass hose or just block it off? I'm not running a heater or anything. The other port on the water pump will go to my expansion tank. What really is it good for anyway? Is it necessary to pump water through it to warm it up before the thermostat opens? Thanks for the help. Matt

If your using a Thermostat you must retain the by-pass in order to circulate the coolant past the T/Stat bulb and ensure correct operation.

Use the bypass. If it was a waste of time, why would Ford put it on their engines?

Thanks guy's! I agree with all, I just had a moment there that I just was trying to clean it up a little if you will. I will pick it up tomorrow with the plugs. Thanks, Matt.

At first I plugged the bypass. Even though my thermostat is drilled and I had high quality plugs..................pulling second gear at 6500 rpms, I blew the plug out like a Champagne cork. Antifreeze went everywhere. Even came out the hoodscoop and onto the windshield!
