well I figure it this way
28 10 15 front replaces 255/60 15 this tire will be slightly taller and a little narrower .5 inch narrower and 1 inch taller? 28 12 15 rear replaces 315/50 15 this tire will be slightly taller and a little narrower .4 inch narrower and .6 inch taller |

Mostly spot on. It looks like you dropped a decimal place on the front width. If your 255/60/15's are exactly 255mm sidewall to sidewall, they are 10.04", not 10.4". (255/25.4=10.04). So, if the S/R's were 10" they would basically be the same width. MT says the 28x10x15 S/R's are 10.3", so they may actually be a little bit wider than your 255's. Again, all this depends on your rim width vs the measuring rim width, and the ACTUAL sizes of your current tires. Almost all these differences fall within the 3% tolerance, so my guess is you won't notice much of a difference in the sizes of new vs old, if any at all. I'm going to take before and after pics from exactly the same side, front and back points of views just so my lyin' eyes don't fool me. Enjoy your new tires. Chuck |

My rear tires came in today. They may be about the same size as your 315's, but DAMN are they ever wide looking compared to my 275's (and it ain't my lyin' eyes)

just curious why you guys picked the 28" height instead of the 26"? Not sure which I'd use but I was hoping to learn more.

They won't be on the car until late next week. My fronts arrive on Monday, but I'll be back east golfing until Thursday. My current 275/60/15's are 28" in diameter and I have the clearance for a wider tire, so that was an easy choice. My fronts are just over 27", and I went back and forth betweeen 26" and 28" for the new MT's. For no good reason, I decided I would rather have the front up 1/2" than down 1" from current, but won't know if that was the right decision until after I drive it and see how it looks. Randy, You are welcome to take the car out for an extended cruise and see for yourself anytime, if you don't mind being seen driving a screaming yellow zonker. Chuck |
wish I knew as far as the 28 inch height goes but it seemed like there was very little differece so I just made thw choiice..**** if I dont hurry up the summer will be over ..my tires should be here tomorrow and mounted by sat ..let you all know!

well..tires went on today...they look awesome...was very concerned after seeing them that the fronts might not fit. turns out they do ...but barely..wish they had a 27 10-15
very sticky but dont seem quite as quick to respond in the corners as the MT's I had.(bias Plys) only have one quick trip on them though ...very sticky though...its nice and hot here today 30 celsius. I will take some pics a little later and give more input...haveing a bit of a bugger of a time getting one balanced right though? First it was the old tires ...then the rim...then no rim is ok ...then this ..then that ? I will see if I cant get it figured out....bit of a shimmy at around 60-70 miles /hr but not bad other than that ... Thanks for all the help ...very pleased with the selection so far |

When I purposely made them spin, it was easy to keep the car going straight, and when they caught the car leaped straight forward. That didn't happen before. :eek: I only have my crappy old tires as a comparison point so, like I said, you are welcome to give them a try anytime. |
