Sorry to see Allen English's car wrecked!
Allen, I just saw the youtube footage and was shocked to see what happened to your car. I must say it certainly was one of my favourite factory five Cobras out there. Sorry to see it damaged via the incompetence of some fool on the road, glad you and your wife are ok, that is my main concern. Has it been written off or is it repairable?
As I always say to people, I trust me, it's the others on the road I don't trust! Sorry once again and hope you get it back on the road soon or maybe build another. :D Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w6S14cazjs Stef |
Wow!! That was a hard hit! But it looks fixable non the less. Glad to see you are both OK. How did that happen?

Truly one of the nicest Cobras anywhere...glad both you and your wife are ok and I'm sure you'll be back on the road for next season.

Very sad indeed, but happy that nobody was hurt.
Allen built a truly amazing Cobra. If I'm not mistaken, he won his class in the Portland Roadster Show recently. Allen, we're so glad you and Lizzy are okay. |
Bummer!

OMG! Allen, what happened? That is SO sad, one of my favorate Cobras!
|
Wow.. I'm SO sorry. That was/is one BEAUTIFUL Cobra.

I'm not sure if Allen gets over here often. Story he related on ffcobra is that he was out for a drive going about 35 and some airhead girl (my words) turned right in front of him across his lane and he T-boned her. The distance was only about 10-12 feet so no time to stop or avoid the collision.
Allen's car was one of the nicest Cobras I've seen in person. The pics don't do it justice for sure. I just hope the insurance company treats him right as the car had some very trick additions on it. From the look of the pics and according to a couple pro builders on the site, I believe it is fixable. Bob |
That's tough, Allen's got a lot into of blood sweat and years into that car. Glad they're OK, I'm sure he'll fix er up better than before somehow.

Wow - Thanks for your condolences everybody. My wife and I are truly devastated by what has happened. This car was a dream for 20 years before I was able to afford it and now it's been taken away by a driver that wasn't paying attention. It could have been worse I know... just the same it had my touch and now to fix it - it will take someone else's touch. Not the same, the pride of the build has been taken away as well.
We had been traveling at 35 Mph when a Focus took an abrupt left turn without signaling in front of us. I stepped on the brakes and skidded into them "T-Bone" and we are a little sore here and there but overall ok. I still need to go in for an MRI as we think my back may of been injured and my wife is having major neck and back pains too. Thanks https://publish.comcast.net/rpath/Je...RwKPKvYPmEEro/ |
Allen,
I am so glad to hear you and your wife weren't hurt any worse than you were. It was a nice car, but the car means nothing if either had been really hurt bad. You built this one, you can fix it. Yea, someone else may have a hand in it but I know you will be looking over their shoulders. |
Don't let it take the pride of the build away. You did it. It was completed and on the road. Always have pride in that. Fix it. Do the work yourself. Hell if you can't get over this one being tainted, save and get a new frame and body from FFR and use this one as the "Donor". By the looks of it, you will need some aluminum panels, a radiator and a few other parts as well, but I bet it could be done fairly cheaply buy yourself and you will still have the pride of building another that has not been touched by someone else.
