Older oil filter

About 4-5 years ago I bought an oil filter from Branda. It has been sitting in my garage in the original box and wrapping the entire time. Is this still good to use? It was $30 so it's a little painful to toss but $30 is peanuts compared to the cost of the engine.

Would you keep it or toss it?

I'd use it if it were me. It won't be on there long with your new motor anyway will it?

Thats what I thought. I have already been through two (cheap ones) when dynoing so this should last for a little while - 1,000 mile oil change...

Use it. There is no shelf life on an oil filter.
