Do a search on "Ranger Paint Co" and you'll find a little garage outfit that sells rubberized paint. I bought a half pint just to see how it flowed. It took a long time to dry but it appeared quite durable. Whenever I wear out my MTs and go to Billboards I'm going to give them the full Ranger treatment.

The paint pens/fabric pens are easier to apply and look good for a few miles. But they will begin to crack and look like shiat soon after.

I just got a pint of that Ranger Paint myself, haven't got around to using it. I was wondering what kind of paint brush or whatever to use with it?

I was planning to use a short bristle artists' brush (like something you would use for toll painting or something). They have them in small sizes at art supply stores.

I had pretty good success with an airbrush & acrylic paint. Hasn't yellowed or cracked in well over a year & the airbrush was a lot smoother looking than a pen (done both.)

Did you have to tape off the letters or do you have enough control to just paint?

bnewell, what are those pictures on the pass. side wall of your garage? Looks like a couple of them may be interesting!

Steve

P.S. On a clean car the tires should be clean as well. Yours look marvelous! (think Billy Crystal accent)

I didn't - no. The airbrush I bought (Aztek) comes with a very fine nozzle that isn't much wider than a pen point - and the overspray is almost invisible. You need a fairly steady hand - but I found it to be pretty easy - and faster than a pen.
I'm just amazed that an acrylic paint would last this long & not discolor.

BTW - I just ordered a set of rear tires from Roger Kraus (blew one out) and will be touching up all four. I'll post pics.

should have cleaned the letters first.........drove the car to Mid-Ohio (approx. 10 miles) today for a driving school (not with the cobra) and by the time I got there, some of the letters looked like sh!t........the new white paint had cracked and flaked off.

Should have stripped the old paint off first.......doesn't pay to be lazy I guess!!

p.s. yep Steve.....nothing better than a little T & A.

Thanks Durt. Sounds good. I have wanted to get an airbrush for a while now.
