?? Superformance Rear Tire Sizes
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the purchase of a MKIII and need some help please. I understand that with the offset of the standard 17" rims they supply, a 315 rear tire may rub, and if you go with a 335 rear tire the rear needs to be tubbed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't necessarily need to to tub an SPF to shoe-horn a 335 underneath. Some of the newer chassis are better at this. But it will be a very tight fit and not offer a lot of lateral movement. I've seen several cars running the 335s.
-Dean #747 (older 3rd gen car with 325/50's on 15" rims that were widened...see gallery).

I am running 315-35-17's with room to spare. Will probably put on 335-35-17's next time around. With the coil overs you can adjust the ride height.

$350 for the pair. Cash. Pro automatic (computer driven) welding equipment. PITA to find someone reliable...had the rims off the car for two months. Had to beg the guy to finish them...was this close (holding fingers one inch apart) from saying the heck with it and doing something different. :rolleyes: |

still alot cheaper than buying 17" wheels and in my op. the 15's look better. I will have to check for someone in the chicago area...

The 335/35 fits just fine on a new SPF. It is the only 17" rear tire we use.

I have 335/35 17 on the rear of my SPF. They fit with no problem on my PSE wheels.
If you are ordering the car new, get the right wheels with the right off set.
You might want to do some checking into tire sizes. I have the 17" front and rear. There are only two tires available in the 335/35. One is $450 and the other $480 each. If I was buying new today, I might go with a bigger size on the rear and maybe stay with the 17's in the front. I haven't looked into it to much.

I had my wheels widened by Stockton Wheel, regardless of what people may tell you the wheel needs to be widened. The fiberglass modifications were minor and if you look into my photo's you can see the work that was done. I have the 335x35 17's and like the way the car now handles, and the look of the car with the wider tires. Some changes had to be made to the suspension to accomodate the width and potential rubbing of various components, Stephen Bramlitt of Full Throttle Performance, Reno, Nevada did all the work on the car, should you have questions or need help call him at 775-852-0800.
