I was there that night and got some pictures. Here is a shot of the guests:

Mr. Shelby signing my die-cast BJ SGT. When I was there I told him that Barrett Jackson had accepted our consignment for the auction of one of my 2 BJ Shelbys (get it?) with full proceeds to CSCF. He didn't really say much then as I was walking away he said "Really?"

I had gone up after the thing was almost over and talked to him again to say "Yes, really". He really did cheer up. As I was shaking his hand, Mrs. Bondurant asked me if I would take a picture of Carroll and her.

She promptly ran away and said to Carroll "Stay here", and me too, and returned with Bob and asked me to take another:

After I took it and showed them the shot in the viewfinder, Carroll said "be sure to Photoshop Bondurant out of the picture and send me a copy". I haven't done it yet but will :).

Here is a shot of Carroll and me with Bob in the wings:

I know, I need to smile when I'm having my picture taken.

At the Barrett Jackson auction Bondurants had a booth. I'd seen him in the area but couldn't catch up (I was scouting my Cobra). I went to the booth and they guy that was there said "Write a note". I had sent a CD with the above shots (and a few more) to them and wanted to know if they got them.

Last Thursday I'm in a day-job meeting and the phone rights. 602 area code (Phoenix, I thought it was Barrett Jackson). After the meeting I hit redial.

Me: "Hello, who is this? I got a call from this number and wanted to call back".

Them: "Oh, what's your name"

Me: Tony

Bob: Oh, Hi. This is Bob Bondurant. I left you a message and wanted to say thanks for the photos.

Me: Well, I'm now sorry that I didn't bid on your driving school in Boulder. I just bought a Cobra and need some pointers...

He offered to teach me. I think I'll take him up on it :)

Mr. Bondurant is one of the most generous and genteel gentlemen in all of Christendom, particularly the automotive division. Along with Mr's Gurney and Brock, you've got a fine hat-trick.

Take him up on it. You will have a really great time at his place and both the time and effort will be greatly rewarded. He is a Champion's Champion.
