Gas tank options
I own a Contemporary Classic Cobra and currently have a 10-12 gallon tank that came from a Chevy Citation which is totally inadequate. What are the options for a tank from a current make car as well as the custom tanks$$$. Tanks in advance for any advise and help.

You DEFINITELY need to speak to Nick Acton (Mickmate on Club Cobra). His specialty is competition style stainless or aluminum tanks for the Contemporary Cobra. His workmanship is impeccable and he's as honest as they come, a true pleasure to deal with. My Contemporary is being finished off this winter, I'll drive it all Summer, then it's going to spend the winter up at Nick's place for tank, S/C trunk and a front coilover conversion. Good luck, Nick will set you up and treat you right.

Nick does make a direct bolt in tank for CCX cars. Would take less than a couple hours to install. The S/C bolt in would look like a 42 gallon from the bottom but might be closer to 25-30 gallon as the depth of the tank would be different in order to be a bolt in for the CCX. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...hlight=CSX3002 Basically a tank that looks like CSX3002 from below that is a bolt in for the CCX and other relpicas. That is a win win my friend... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...rside_tank.jpg |
Hey David, I believe the factory used 68-9 Camaro tanks with a relocated fill tube from the back centre to the right side. We have been basically using the same space and shape but more effectively with a tank that really fills the cavity. Ally will run about $600, stainless around $850, depending on current market material prices. That is a 24.6 gallon tank set up with a sender compatible with your guage, pickups for fuel, baffled to stop sloshing, drain plug, mounting straps, guaranteed leak tested, fill tube to fit your neck, effectively a complete tank ready to install. If you want to run fuel pressure guage like a comp or SC we can do two pickups and no sender. You can see a few examples on my website if you're interested or I can convert a Camaro one for you. I have been making tanks and other parts for quite a few different breeds now including CCX, LAE, B&B, Midstates, KMP and CSX continuation and originals. Check out my website and let me know if there's any other questions I haven't covered. You can talk to me about payment options also as that's a concern with our expensive hobby. I can get going on a tank with just a deposit to cover materials if that helps.

Acton Custom
Hello, I have one of Nick's fuel tanks in my CSX4000 style build. Stainless steel with baffles and the quality is excellent. I am waiting for more parts from Nick now. I highly recommend Nick at Acton Custom.
good luck, karl |
Karl, that's nowhere near a 4000 car, what you have hand built is a tribute to the originals rarely seen to that level of detail. Especially that 60's style chassis/birdcage and ally body!
