About to order Classic Chambered

Hello All,

I am getting ready to order new mufflers for my side pipes. I am currently running Lobaks with the 7/8 tube and augers.

I am about to purchase 3024-COBRA-P from classic chambered with new turndown pipes.

I have extra 4 into 1 collectors so I will not have to alter my current side pipes.

Is this the muffer people are using from Classic Chambered.

I would hate to order the wrong muffler.

Thanks

Howe Mufflers

If you use the search button for Howe Mufflers you will find several good posts on what others use. I replaced the stock Superformance side pipes with Howe mufflers resulting in more HP & Torque and much better sound.

Thx, db:):):)

I also use Howe Mufflers. Big HP/TQ increase and a real nice sound.

Has anyone posted a sound bite or youtube snip-it with the Howes? Don and Fred, you both have punched/stroked SB so it would be a good comp for the other SB players here. :)

Thanks,

-Dean

:LOL::LOL::LOL:I just got my classic chambered side pipes welded up and running.:LOL::LOL::LOL:What a huge difference in sound. Way deep and throaty sound!!!!!! If I get dry weather in the morning I will video my new exhaust. I went with 3"X24 long with packing. Can't wait to drive it to see the change. Berm

bermblaster41,

What mufflers did you have before the change.

I believe the stock mufflers that come on most kits. Inside diameter was less than 2". Very restrictive. It looks dry out I'll try for some video in a bit. Look for a new thread for classic chambered. Give Eric a call he knows what you will need and a very nice guy to do bussiness with. Berm

I have both and dynoed both.

I have a set with Classic Chambered mufflers, and had them dynoed. I was amazed at the power increase I got. With that thinking, and another set of old side pipes from a local buddy that decided to go sideways over his neighbors mailbox(no name mentioned), I decided that if 3" core is good, 3.5" core of a Howe must be better. When I got it dynoed with the Howes, I found out that it will make more noise, but not more power. Not only that, the extra noise is actually fatiguing.

Quality of construction favors the Classic Chambered since it has aluminized steel. Where I work also has alot of acidic fumes which will cause bare steel to oxidize quickly. The aluminized steel has lasted without red rust. The Howes use bare steel with a spray paint on the outer shell only. The Classic Chambered also has expansion joints, which will help with the stress of heat cycling over time, whereas the Howes do not.

The louvers on the Classic Chambered are deeper and allow it to shave off the expanding gas(noise). The Howes are shallower, and as you can see from this picture, are practically useless.

Believe me when I tell you, the Howes sounded great when I first tried them. It didn't take much driving, and a few sour faces, for it to get old quick. Classic Chambered's are loud enough to get you the grins, but not too loud as to be offensive.

I'm glad I tried both though, because now I know. Not that its ended there, because I have another set in the works.:D I have a welding fixture for side pipes, might as well make sure it doesn't get dusty.
