T-5
I have a T-5 trans in my Cobra, it is a E5ZR-7003-fa rep-ah. I am going to replace it with a M 7003-Z, is this a direct replacement? Can any one tell me if the E5ZR is aworld class and if it is worth rebuilding, it has a wine in first gear. Thanks for the help. terry

According to the chart I found at www.mustanggt.org/gttranny.htm, it is a World Class, but the first year in production & still rated at 265 ft. lbs. The gear ratios it lists for this tranny are: E5ZR-7003-FA - 1st. - 3.35 2nd. - 1.93 3rd. - 1.29 4th. - 1.00 5th. -0.675 Reverse - 3.15 Thats about all I can help you with. Wish I could be more help. |
Since Randy confirmed it is a World Class and your thinking of rebuilding it. Have it rebuilt to T-5z specs.

Thanks for the help. How does the Z differ from the standard world class?

In a nut shell it's a much stronger Transmission. Rated at 330ft/lbs. First gear is 2.95 instead of your 3.35 and it has a steel front bearing retainer.
Modern Driveline.com has more information. I used mine as a core and had an upgraded transmission built for me by Bluementhal Industries. Oklahoma City. Marty |
