FE Oil Adapter Question, Real-time help needed

I know this needs to be in the FE forum, but I figure it might get more visibility here tonight. I am doing final assembly on my side oiler and have a question for the pros. How do you plug the old dipstick hole adjacent to the remote filter adapter on the block? I have searched for an hour and cannot find a solution. Help appreciated.

Thanks.

You could thread it for a 1/8" OR 1/4" tapered pipe plug. Just be certain all the filings are recovered. Maybe put heavy grease on the tap. Or lightly drive a tapered pin into the hole and carefully cut it off.

And that's exactly what we did. Thanks.

Mine was plugged with a metal plug by putting some silicone on it and taping it into the hole. Still there after 6 years.

Brass Plug

You can buy a brass plug at Home Depot in the plumbing section about 3/4" long that fits inside the tubing and has a machined collar on the top the same as the OD of the tube. Just solder it in like you sweat a copper pipe and it will never come off or leak. Very clean looking also.

Thanks guys, we just threaded the first 1/2" of the hole and screwed in a 1/8" pipe fitting with the Allen head inset. Looks like it is supposed to be there.

elmariachi, aren't you in Houston? Sounds like you are getting close....I still have a number of FE parts if you need anything.

Yep, NW of Houston in Cypress. I am close, see below. Need to install the pushrods and Erson rockers, spacer and balancer, run the wires, stab the distributor and add oil. Hoping to do the break-in run in about a week. And I still have to recarpet the car, finish the dash rewire and a few others odds and ends. I am shooting to be in Austin for the TX meet, but it will be a tight squeeze. I am chasing a bunch of bits and pieces, I'll PM you with what I need. Thanks Russ.
