Ride
Lookin' good...how much more to finish.......
|
Hello, Not much more to do, I am waiting on a welder to help me weld the two halfs of the aluminum body together at the rocker panels. Then I have to attach the hood, trunk & door skins to the frames.
Then I can go for title, reg & inspection and drive it until winter, then send it in for paint over next winter. It is a blast to drive, I have never driven a 427 Cobra until I drove this car. It is a lot different than our 289 Cobra, in a scary kinda way ....hahaha regards, karl |
Looks like you've made great progress Karl. It's pretty neat that you made it all yourself!
|
That is cool... congrats on a job well done.

Hello, I did another 10 miles in the project cobra yesterday, no problems at all ...it ran great again.
Kris, I did not really make it all by myself, I did purchase many of hte parts and pcs. from Nick at Acton Custom, Roger in TX, Kris K. and approx. 20 or 25 CCobra members. Thanks John, we missed Porsche Club at road atlanta, my dad had to make a extended trip to korea. We have started final prep to attach the alum body. I will try to post more video & photos of the process. regards, karl |
Hey Karl you've gone smokin by me on progress but talking to you I hear and feel the excitement after a run. The last couple of calls got me working furiously on mine, thanks. You have made a car from the ground up, quite an accomplishment I'm happy to have been a part of. That was good you could stand back and look at it and enjoy the sights and sounds as Joe goes by. Back to the last couple of touches on my chassis!

the body is on, tacked anyway

Every time I've seen this car I'm impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. I bet you are excited to get the car on road. Good luck with the inspection.

Passed state inspection
Hello, the car passed state inspection with only one loose bolt on a heim joint. I did all the paper work and paid the sales tax now it will take a couple weeks to get a title so I can get a plate and drive. I hope to have the plate in time for the shelby show in hershey.
The mechanic thought the clecos in the hood scoop was a unique touch, I need to get them replaced. later, karl |
Dude... you made a road legal car... Kudos and thanks for the updates.
