So here is my Gardner Douglas, in the FL sun.

Looking forward to tearing it apart this coming year to fix some of the wrongs that have evolved over the last few years when back in Ireland.

Really nice car....except the steering wheel is on the wrong side:LOL:

Beautiful car. I think she may be dissapointed in the roads down that way. Not many interesting roads to drive in South Florida. Too straight and too flat. That's if you find one with limited traffic.

If your in to sports car racing, we have this big race every March in central Florida. You may have heard of it. Yes, the 12 hours of Sebring actually takes place in Sebring, Florida. I know, I was surprised too.:) The Deep South Cobra Club has a spot in the Turn 1 club reserved. If your into that sorta thing.

I don't know Jim, you seem to be able to find some interesting roads to travel down.

The further South you go, the slimmer the pickens for nice drives. North of I4 is the place to go.

Paul, must be the only GD in the states. I drove one when I lived in the UK. Nice car. If I remember, they engineered the car so you could remove the body from the chassis is a couple of hours if you need to work on the drive train. I met their Factory racer Heather one time. Now that girl could drive.
There is a Dax located somewhere around the Dallas area that a German brought back.
Good luck and enjoy

Paul, it looks like you live in the Jupiter Farms area? Lots of cobra dudes down that way.

pcoghlan 03-04-2009 07:55 PM

Gatorac, thanks I will be looking into the Sebring meet next week. I doubt the car will make it, I still have a few wrinkles to iron out.

Goober, I think they say it is about an hour to remove the body from the chassis. I will get to know in the summer when I remove it to have the frame powder coated. The GD is certainly designed as a race car. Not much is easy to access. I even heard it mentioned that just removing the drive shaft is easiest done with the body removed!!

jmimac351, yes I am in Jupiter Farms. I met up with a few local members this evening in fact! Nice and local to the British pub and Palm Beach International Raceway, a happy camper...
