You won't get any non-salvage FGTs for $120K or less or any "no story" cars for $120K or less. If you know where you can let me know.
Market for a nice low mileage "no story" FGT is still $150K+. Anything less...buyer beware. And if your right that within a year or so you may be able to buy a FGT for $100K or so then I expect you'll be able to buy a Brock Coupe or SPF GT40 for $30K to $40K. At that point I might pick up a Coupe. |

Bartruff1: I'm sure you can pick up some rough FGTs in the $120s with high mileage especially some salvage cars or cars that have a "story" i.e. have been hit or damaged to some extent or the other.
Excellent examples i.e. with "no stories" and low mileage...plan on at least $140K to $150K or more depending on options, color, mods. etc... Remember alot of these cars even without salvage titles have an accident history due to original owners with more money than brains behind the wheel so be careful...a thorough PPI is a must. In the future, however, who knows what values will be :confused: Anything I guess is possible. If you are interested in an FGT you can PM me and I can refer you to sponoring reputable vendors on the FGT forum who know these cars inside and out and what a prime example should cost in this market. |

He had a chart that showed how the Dodge Viper (1992-now) started out strong and then lost its appeal and depreciated. He bought a blue Ford GT only to put it up FS in a few months. Nonetheless, my SCM value guide shows a $135K-$150 current value of the car. My research shows that most of the "nice" ones are selling on the high end of this price. I temporally lost interest in the car due to a few "incidents" on the FordGTforums.com site which I didn't feel was fair. The Ford GT site just isn't the great site that this site is. Just my opinion. |
95CobraR: I don't know what your experience was over at the FGT forum but I've had the opposite experience over at the FGT forum. They do run a tight ship for sure and don't tolerate any quabbles. In fact there really aren't any quabbles that I can recall over there as everyone seems to get along great and they share a passion for a common supercar. They are SERIOUS about the FGT. One unfair bad word about the FGT from an outsider/non owner brings a swarm of killer bees on them in no time flat. The vast majority of owners love their cars and many own multiple FGTs.
This site, however, has been a, uh, shall we say a rough place in years past. This place does seem to have mellowed somewhat with time and the less frequent appearance of a certain group of antagonists and also with more and more owners of CSX Cobras joining I think has helped. I would recommend trying the FGT forum again if you are interested in the FGT. There is great wealth of information over there about the car. They are a great group but VERY loyal to the FGT and rightfully so...it is a world class supercar and American made. :MECOOL: |
I cant vouch for whether the site mellowing is down to the addition of CSX owners or not but I would respectfully suggest that there are good and bad owners in ALL camps, be it the originals, Kirkhams, CSX, FFR, Lonestar, et al.
I doubt it is so easy as to simply increase membership from one manufacturer of replicas to mellow the site. :confused: Aside from which I think the site is fine and is in no need of 'mellowing'. |
Pcoghlan: In light of your post count I would venture to guess you weren't around here for the past 9 to 10 years.
This place was "different" in the old days. Kinda like the wild west. :LOL: Based on my experience here over the many years, its sure seems mellower here now. Thats a good thing. There was a... shall we say... certain level of hositlity here in the past toward CSX Continuation Cobras in particular and any of their owners who dared to defend their Continuatoin series cars (moi in particular) which grew worse in the days of the SAI vs. FFR/SPF wars. Believe me. I was there and have the battle scars to prove it!!!:eek: I do believe the increase in Shelby owners has had an impact here based on my experience and comparison between "then" and "now". There appears to be a correlation anyway. You are correct there are good and bad owners of all makes. |

I can understand how this would cause emotions to run high among some. I myself would see only those manufactured by AC in the 60s as original Cobras but each to their own. As long as you enjoy it that is ALL that matters. :D Paul Quote:
