I got mine out on the highway for the first time today. Mine is a Roush 427IR, TKO600, 3.54 rear end, 295/50x15 tires. It was ~3000RPM at ~75MPH in 5th.

My CR is very close to SC's, about 78 @ 2,000 with a 3.27 and .64 in a T-5 Z.
My 1 in 10 addition of 110 AvGas enables me to cruise at 60 no problem. The Kirkham is another story - 3.54 rear and a 4 spd toploader gives me a little over 60 @ 3,000. I may see a TKO 600 going into that in the future - I like that 5th speed and don't have a trailer so I plan on driving it. |

Still, much more tolerable than 4K  !! Dugly  |
Yep, something still isn't right. Using a RPM calculator, with a 3.70 final drive, a .68 overdrive and an assumed 26" tire height you will be turning 2276 RPMs at 70 mph. To get 3383 RPMs @ 70 mph would require a 5.50 rear gear:eek: ... I think not! Possibly your tach is fun-goo'd or your speedo is waaaaay out of calibration.

Yeah, I used a calculator I found online and for a 295/60 15" tire, using the 0.68 gearing in the T-5 OD and the 3.7 differential gearing, I get 2050 RPM at 70 MPH. That's exactly the range I was hoping for!
I did manage to talk to the previous owner (2nd back) and he suggested that perhaps there is a 6 cyl/8 cyl switch on the back of the tach that is set on 6 cyl. The guages are entry level VDO's, so.......we'll see, I am about 5 days from being able to take possession. He also verified that the rear gear ratio is 3.70. Dugly  |
