Square Tires
I am currently running BF Goodrich T/A's on my Unique Cobra . I had them shaved true about 4 years ago and they are flat spotted again**). I have 265/50R-15's on the front and 295/50R-15's on the rear. I want to keep the 15 inch wheels and am looking for similar sized tires in a different brand . I see that Cooper makes "Cooper Cobra" tires in the sizes that I need. Has anyone had any experiences with them ?

Pete, 15" tires are a popular subject here. You might want to also try the search function as Cooper Cobra tires have come up in the past. My understanding is that Cooper is not a high performance tire, but a great all around tire that is superior to the BFG T/A. The MT street radials have also gotten good reviews. Here's a post from today from Kirk regarding his recent switch form BFG to Cooper Cobra tires. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...ghlight=cooper |
Pete:
A few weeks ago I was at Vintage in Wallingford and those that had the Coopers liked them. The BFGs are junk. I should know I've had a few of them. Bob |
I have Cooper Cobra's on mine. I only have 1300 miles on my Cobra (street driven only) and have been happy with them, good handling and a good ride at a good price. Can't complain at all!

Thanks guys, I have had nothing but trouble with the BFG's and since the Coopers are available in the sizes I need looks like I'll make the switch.
The car is street driven and on rare occassion sees 80mph but never over that. With the BFG's highway speeds can be quite uncomfortable. Thanks again for the help. Pete :MECOOL: |
Good Year Eagle II's or Billboards. Are both 15".

Thanks Pat but I just made a deal for 4 new Cooper Cobra tires and a "Road Force" tire balance. Your tires are good deal for someone though.....

Why are you selling your goodyear eagles ? Just bought to same sizes , should I be conserned ? Peter |
I have always run Cooper Cobras on my roadster and highly recommend them. They are approximately $14 per tire cheaper than Firestone Indy 500s. I just like that they say COBRA on them and have a raised likeness of the Cobra snake on the tire. I run 235R60/15 on the front and 295R50/15 on the rear.

Why do square tires only come in 15s? :)

Selling GY Eagle II's
coinop101,
I replaced them with Bluestreaks for track days. Inspection in MA is such a bunch of crap I just use the car for track events. |
I feel it is related to the size of the sidewall. That is what makes the square tire, the variation in sidewall stiffness. Needless to say it is a double edged sword, they deliver a better ride over the lowewr profile tires. That being said I have BFG on my SPF and love them. I guess I better not wear them out. Zero vibration at any speed, had them road balanced for grins and each tire only took about .5oz after dynamic balance. If you are running the bfg make sure to keep you tire pressure at about 22 psig, not 32psig!!! as specified in the spf manual. I had bfg on my bdr and experienced vibration and found the tires to be way out on the road force balance, I did manage to get it to acceptable level. It appears BFG quality control suks like many manufacturers.
