Help needed - Lucas headlamp lead color code
There are two blue wires and a black one. Black is ground, of course. There is a blue with a white stripe, and a blue with a red stripe. Does anyone know which is High beam and which is low beam? I tried Googling it, but it is all in whatever that language is that the Brits speak.
They claim that the blue with white stripe is the "dipped" headlamps, and the blue with the red stripe is the "main" headlamps, whatever that's supposed to mean. Anyone know for sure? I'm guessing that "dipped" is low beam, and "main" is high beam, but I don't want to guess on this and have to re-do it. Thanks. |
i am using the lucas switches on my ffr, when they refer to dip they are talking about the low beam and the main beam is the high beam. i have the instructions from finishline for the lucas S-HD 34889 switch and the lucas S-3 31788 switch . terminal 1 on the 3 position switch is ignition feed, terminal 4
is for running lights and terminal 8 goes to terminal one on the head light dip switch, terminal 2 is for then dip beam and terminal 4 is for the main beam, terminal 3 is open?. |
You'll be talking fluent Lucas by the time your done my friend!

Ground the black cable and then attach one of the others individually & separately to the remaining battery post. The dimmest is the "Dipped", the "Main" is the brightest, atttach the chassis wires accordingly. Verify the high beam light on the dash panel is lit when the brightest lamp is lit. Ohm & volt meter works well for this too.

Thanks, Rick
