Brake Dust
What is the best cleaner to remove brake dust from painted wheels? I am looking for sometMy wheels are Trigo FIA wheels with the center section painted white. I am using EBC Red Stuff brake pads that claim very little dust, but on white wheels it's a real PIA!

That's one thing I have to say I like about inboard brakes (at least for the rears). I hate toothbrushing the fronts.

'Simple Green' straight from bottle and a natural sponge. If you're really careful and quick, 'Castrol Super Clean'.

I laughed when my sister in law told me about this but this product works great. Just wet it and the brake dust comes right off. Rinse out the cloth and use it over and over. It is Streak Free Microfiber Cloth. The package says to order by phone call John or Mary at (570) 883-5530. To order by email: MaryJohn570@aol.com. She gave me the cloth but I think it only costs a few dollars. My wife's Mini gets brake dust terrible but a wet Streak Free cloth gets it off with no effort. It says it is also good for a bunch of other stuff but I have only used it for brake dust. I don't know these people or the company but can attest to how great it works.

Get EBC Redstuff pads. No dust, strong braking given that this is a race pad for the street. Smooth, quiet, no (very low) dust and GREAT braking. These are Ceramic/Kevlar, . . . two high tech braking materials integrated into one terrific pad.

I know you will not believe this but if you go to the grocery store and get the spray bottle or "Shout" for removing stains from cloths.
simply spray it on let it set and hose it off, I swear they look like new, as far as removing the brake dust.
I didn't believe it either, but now I keep a bottle in my wash bucket for all the cars.
Trust me, it works!

Steve,
You are right I find it hard to believe Shout is the answer to brake dust; I replaced my daily drivers brake pads with ceramic pads because I got tired of the hourly cleaning of the wheels. If the Shout doesn’t work on my wheels I know my wife can use it on my stained T-shirts as I need it every time we go out to a restaurant, in fact she doesn’t want to go out to eat any more with me.

Simple Green straight works for me. Also you might want to consider an upgrade on your pads to a low dust, rotor friendly race/street pad from Porterfield. The R4-S pads.

Simple Green
It is true that Simple Green will clean very well, but be aware that it is corrosive to aluminum. In response to this concern of the aviation people, Simple Green began to produce a product that was not corrosive and approved by the military for use on aluminum, both bare and painted. If you use Simple Green it would be good to find this product.
