Yes, and the demand will only go down for them once our age bracket passes on. Some of our kids will still want them because dad had one (and some, of course, will inherit dad's Cobra). The production of them will then be cut way back, 427s and 428s will be increasingly hard to find, the original builders will have moved on to their great reward, and "original replicas" will then begin to increase in value. It would not surprise me if 40 years from now my ERA, with its basically "classic build," has escalated in value at an annual percentage rate that is in the high single digits. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong.:3DSMILE:

He must be reading this post. He changed his "poser" comment to:

"Perfect for an ERA or Kirkham Street-Car Replica."

Hhmmm, I wonder if he's a member here...

He would have been better off posting them for sale here (with a different attitude, mind you) than putting them up on Ebay.

Its ironic that when we are buyers, we get pissed when someone tries to charge us more than what WE would pay. But when we are the sellers, we have no problem letting the highest bidder for our house/car/wheels pay all they'll pay. Has anyone here stopped an eBay auction because the bidding got too high?

We all know about ERAs and Kirkhams even if he doesn't, so why take offense? The only person harmed is the idiot who pays $6250 for the wheels. And if that makes him happy to pay that, who cares???

tkb289 08-16-2009 01:16 PM

Looks like the ad was changed to include 'free' shipping ...

" Price will include free Fed-Ex Green Label, Fully Insured freight to the lower 48. "

Operators standing by ...

If you think he's smokin' crack with the price of the wheels, click on his other auctions and see what he thinks a Holley carb is worth.

Yep, he just changed his ad again. Now he's throwing in a pair of Manolo Blahnik, size 5.

trularin 08-16-2009 02:22 PM

I suppose he will have them again next year.

How does the buyer know they are the real deal ( and don't start that "is it real" stuff )?

:D :D

Because he will supply a "Certificate of Authenticity." Frankly, I'm shocked that you would even question the veracity of someone hocking used Cobra parts. You know that we've all taken the "Cobra oath" to always act fairly, honestly, clean, reverent, etc. when it comes to Cobra stuff:p

RodKnock 08-16-2009 06:20 PM

I wonder how many "street" Kirkhams and ERA's there are out there? I doubt that there are more than maybe handful of Kirkhams.

I love how he changed the ad to reflect "new info." I'm not a poser any longer, I'm SOMEBODY darnit.

428street, your ERA looks fantastic with them.

For some reason, I originally thought he was selling only a pair, but as I reread the ad, now it appears he's selling a full set of five. I must have read the original ad too fast or something.

mickmate 08-16-2009 06:50 PM

A full set of five with only four in the picture and only one showing one front and none of the back..........hmmmmmmm. I love throwing large chunks of cash at things with dodgey pictures how bout u fellas?

No worries Nick, those nice folks at PayPal will cover you if you get hosed.

trularin 08-16-2009 07:34 PM

OMG! You're right Pat, How could I possibly have crossed the line.

Do you suppose the certificate will be signed by "him who shall not be named"?

Stay tuned folks, this is bound for greatness and glory. At least a two bagger.

:D :D

I figured out who it is. He's a pretty decent guy to talk to on the phone and he has good feedback on flea bay. He does advertise here and was smart enough to be paying attention to this thread I believe. He might elaborate on the KH also but if you know what a Sunburst is you should know KH I guess. He does another street car product as well.

Well I don't. :p What does KH stand for?

mickmate 08-16-2009 08:14 PM

Kelsey Hayes, as keen as you are we have to keep your edumacation going on this stuff Patrick. I guess they were sketched up and put into production very quickly when they couldn't keep them on wheels. I think the previous point about them being made from ally may be right too. The wheel shortage had the cars sitting unfinished (and not sold) on blocks. That's when a bright eyed salesman came up with the worlds fastest street car idea and the SC was born.

I thought you'd had too many sensible posts in a row ha ha.

Excaliber 08-16-2009 09:59 PM

Personally I don't care for the Sun Burst look myself, but their different and might look real nice dpending on what kind of Cobra setup you got.

I recently bought 4 used extra wheels for my ERA at a $100 a pop, I'm a happy camper! I'll mount some race tires on one set, street tires on the other.

May I ask what you mean by "he does another street car product as well"? It sounds like he reproduces wheels for living. These wheels couldn't be reproductions could they?

What name does he advertise under here? Thank you.

trularin 08-17-2009 05:58 AM

Tension is mounting as we are soon to discover if the wheels in question are real or a fabrication. Stay tuned.

Just a little added commentary.
