A little HELP with info about the BAR

I'm almost done with my SPF # 2966 and would like to know about BAR?
I live in Hollister and want to know if I need to go to a special Highway patroll station. And do you need to make a appointment. Phone #

You mention the BAR and CHP. Two different subjects.

You need to visit DMV first, then you need to visit the BAR referee, CHP, a brake and light station. Not necessarily in that order. DMV will tell you the order.

Save yourself some trouble and get an SB100 before you go to the referee. Unless your impatient and want to do this twice.

Call the CHP in Gilroy to find out how to get them to give you your VIN.

There's a lot of great info on this site and the search feature is great. Here's the best thread on the SB100 process: http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93940

You cannot go to the BAR appt. without visiting the CHP first. You cannot visit the CHP without having visited the DMV. The DMV is your first stop. Not every DMV requires the B&L inspection, but that is a form that you will finish with at the DMV. Your first and last stop. This thread will explain it more detail.

A number of people have had good luck with the San Jose CHP office. The Officer who does the inspections there is a car guy and he often accepts the chassis VIN for SPF cars vs. assigning a new VIN and VIN plate.
