Help me sell my Cobra

Okay, I am not usually one to ask for help with things, but I'm also not to proud to admit when I need help.

My life is pretty much falling apart right now. My wife and I are splitting up after 14 years, I am losing where I currently live because the landlord has decided to sell the house, and being in close to 6 figure debt from closing my business, I don't even have the money to rent someplace new (hell, I've been rolling change for gas and food).

Since my beloved Shelby is the only thing of value I own, I really need to sell her.

If anyone is interested, or if anyone knows someone who might be interested, just drop me an e-mail at powersurgeperf@aol.com and I can reply back with a full description and pictures to forward.

I'd be willing to throw $500 to anyone who refers someone that buys my car.

Thanks in advance for anyone who tries to help.

:(:(:(

Sorry to hear this Sal. I hopped my Lightning up with your parts several years ago. I hope things turn around for you in the future. Good luck with the Shelby.

Sorry Dude. I keep hoping I don't have to make such plans, but at this current time, it can happen to anyone at the drop of a pin. I think of it this way. I had one, and if something bad happens, I'll probably have another. I hope you think that way too!

Excaliber 08-23-2009 11:36 PM

...whew, been there, glad I didn't have a Cobra at the time, had to sleep in the car for a bit. My heart goes out to you Sal, I wish you the very best for a brightened future.

I'll talk to some folks about the car (don't need any bird dog fee) but frankly, the FIRST thing there going to want to know is how much.

That is a sweet car. Saw one on evil bay for $114,999. CSX6000 with a
427 center oiler etc - no where near as nice as yours. Don't think he will
get anywhere near that for that one - main claim to fame is that it is the
first sold publicly in the new series. Hang in there and that buyer out there
will find you in the near future.

Why don't you Post some pictures?
What are you asking for it?

So sorry to hear this. You have a beautiful car. Hopefully things turn around. I'll keep my eyes peeled for anyone looking.

Madmiles442 08-26-2009 08:07 PM

Sorry to hear about your circumstances. I know it's hard to see now, but it will get better. My divorce was final in Feb and it will take a while but hang in there, there really are sunnier days ahead.

I wish I was in a position to assist you materially Sal, but all I can do is offer my support and best wishes. This time will pass and if you remain focused and positive, there is a good chance you will bounce back and turn it all around. Keep looking ahead, jettison the negative baggage and have a successful rebuild.

RedBarchetta 09-09-2009 10:23 PM

Sorry to read this news, man. I would suggest posting your beautiful car on Cobra Country...I see the really nice cars move quickly on that site all the time. Good luck and you will weather this set-back. :)

Sal, when i came back from a year in the Bush in IV Corps in Vietnam, my wife had run off with a lawyer, sold everything i owned, even the wheels off my VW Squareback. I got back the "Land of the Big PX" wearing jungle fatigues, with my Pentax around my neck, a dozen knives, my captured Chicom carbine, and absolutely nothing else that was mine. Not so much as a Kleenex to blow my nose. I had to pay child support.

I had not dated since i was 17, and not a tiny idea of what dating was all about, and wondered if any woman would have any interest in a solder without even a pair of shoes.

I soon found out that there were a lot of nice women the world, although i remained single for the next 7 years. At first, i didn't know how i was going to get thru another day, then another week, but in time, i focused on my own goals, and set a relentless path towards achieving them. I worked whatever i could to pay my child support without fail.

In time, i met the right woman, and now have three kids, four grandchildren, and more than i could ever hoped to have, back when all was so bleak and hopeless for me.

It is hard, really hard, but what i found for myself, was that if i kept trying, and kept wanting to have happiness again in my life, and if i worked for it, and remained patient, and let some things just run their course, my life came to have reward in so many ways.

Every day, for a long time, i told myself that i wanted to be happy, and without loss and pain, and i would try as hard as i could to achieve it. Even when i had to sleep in the back of my Squareback, or live in a rotten rat infested apartment. I just kept making myself look to the future, and not the past. I made sure my priorities and goals remained very clear, and made the sacrifices necessary to achieve them.

So, look to the future, not back over your shoulder, and be relentless in your persuit of happiness and success. You can do it.

your friend,

Sal,

I clipped this out of a newspaper in May 1982, when going thru a nasty divorce, and have kept it in my wallet to this day.
Can't give credit, don't know who wrote it.

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't you father or mother or wife,
Whose judgement upon you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life,
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you're a straight shooting chum,
And call you a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum,
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test,
If the the guy in the glass is you're friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But you're final reward will be heartaches and tears,
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Hal has given sage advice, as he always does.
It works, believe me.

Sal, I am sorry to hear of your situation.

No one can actually know all of what you are going through, but those that have had similar situations can relate their feels.

I can only off my best wishes that you will come out of your current dilemma in good shape. Sometimes things happen that actually pave the way for a better outcome in life like with Hal.

Good luck.

:D
