Need a Low Profile Oil Pan for 408 Stroker
Does anyone know of a super low profile oil pan for a 351 stroker engine? I need something that is no deeper than 6 1/2". Got a major clearance problem on Coupe and trying to avoid cost of dry sump system.

you'll prob have to have one custom made, armando or billet specialties come to mind. that is getting pretty close to the oil pump. i looked around and had armando make one, cept it was 7 or 7.5". billet specialties made a dry sump pan for the black car at 6.5", their quality or fitment is sometimes questionable.

Give Canton racing a shout and ask about the pan they make for Roush in the GT40 applications.

Oil Pan with Clearance
I traded out my Canton for an Aviaid "Daytona / GT40" to get the pan above the frame rails. Do you need more, try dry sump.

Thanks Guys, I am setting about 2 1/2" off the ground at my oil pan (Moroso). I need to gain about at least 1" more clearance.

The Roush/Canton GT/Coupe pan is 7" height.

Clois,
I know it's a track car but 2 1/2" seems extreme and will certainly require one or more of the following:
Custom fabbed pan, dry sump system or raising ride height a bit. I know that's a compromise you may not want to make.

Clois: Think this through carefully, you may create a pan that is so shallow it will reduce the available volume of oil OR create an inherant windage issue within the crankcase. Get some sound advice from someone like Aviaid. I'm sure they have had a similar request before. If it is a track car, the money would be well spent on a Dry Sump.

Thanks Rick,
The coupe will be both track and street. My pan on my engine is 8 1/2" deep measured from the gasket to the bottom of the pan. I think someone should have a shallower (if that is a word) T-style oil pan that is no deeper than 7". I left a message at Aviad for them to call me back, I couldn't get anyone to answer at Armando's.

Part number 155-55361 for a 351W is only 6 1/2" deep.

About how much would a dry sump system cost?
I always wonder what the cost would be.

Custom pan, crank-driven pump, remote oil sump/container and all that #12 steel braid/AN12 fittings to hook it all up....a LOT of money. I would guess in the range of $1,500-$2,000.

Dean,
My current costs without checking the used market was going to be around $3500.00 for a dry sump system. Not something I can live with at this time. Dean Lampe's mechanic made me a great deal on a new Aviaid 351 Windsor Daytona coupe 6 1/2" deep oil pan with the pickup included he had ordered for a guy in Ohio some time ago and he never picked it up. That is going to be my best option. John at Aviaid called me back and gave me a price of $550.00 for a new 351 Daytona Road Race pan with baffles, windage tray, scraper, and pickup.
Thanks for everyones advise and help with this decision.
