U-2 Driver @ 70K
Hey U- 2 Driver,
Is this you at 70,000 Feet with 95% of the Earth atmosphere below you ? This is a very special view from the U2....:MECOOL::MECOOL: http://www.wimp. com/breathtaking footage Tony R. (USMC F4J RIO) :):):) |

Way cool thanks for posting that, both of you.
|
You guys do realize that's James May (Top Gear's Dr. Slow) being given the ride in the U-2 Limo, don't you?
Note the switch to the Grand prix chase cars a few years ago when the Z28 fleet came up for replacement. |
Thanks for posting this.
THe only other cooler plane is the Blackbird, which I saw one in 84 or 85 in Colorado Springs (Peterson Field). Actually I heard it before I saw it. Two booms back to back. I knew something was different and then the next morning the picture of it was in the local paper. Whenever fly into Vegas I drive by Kelly Johnson Blvd. I always tip my hat. |
Thank you for correcting the link.
The ceiling in the F4 was 60k and even then it was weak, the technology of the U-2 is amazing. And yes indeed that is Dr. Slow....... TR |
Top Gear is one of my favorite shows. James May (ie Captain Slow), Richard Hammond (Hampster) and Jeremy Clarkson are fantastic in how they present cars.
If you have never watched Top Gear, you can catch it on BBC America. Great humor, fantastic cars and some crazy middle aged guys being fools. |
Oops...It's "Dr. Who" and "Captain Slow." Thanks! I have BBC on most days...been watching Top Gear for quite awhile. My wife loves it as much as I do.

Fixed it for you. Very cool video. That pilot did not look like Jeff. |
Tony, are you going to CH1 this year? If so, you can ask Jeff himself. He will be there. BTW, definitly not Jeff in that film.

The glasses are all wrong.
