Hi Guys,
They've not released names to the public as of now, I think it best we respect that until all family is notified. I'll go see them after things have settled. I'll post more after that. Chris |
Everythime I meet a new girl with this car the first thing she wants to is drive it. My insurance company has stated it clearly that under no surcumstances I should ever have anyone else driving this car because my insurance is not covered if anyone else drives it....
Trying to impress someone is one thing but having an inexperience driver behind the wheels is another... Sorry to hear what happen. I have a big trip from Virginia to rehoboth beach to meet up with some other fellows this coming weekend and it is a 4 hour drive and I agonize over it... However i'm still looking forward to seeing 50 plus other fellow cobras owners... Dex... http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/...ic,8331.0.html |
Sorry to hear of this loss........

Hi Guys,
His name is Charlie Wolf, I first met him at Snow White, a drive in, lost in the 50's. He was in the cobra and I was admiring it. He was excited at the chance to share his story with another cobra lover, we talked for a half an hour. We met again at the Lodi High School benefit / car show. We again shared stories of one another's builds, shows and travels, he had his grandson with him. Although we saw each other occasionally, waving form lane to lane, kings of the road, I will miss the chance of another meeting, another wave, another show. I'm not aware of an affiliation with club cobra, we didn't enter the question, perhaps Brent or Jamo can answer that. There is a celebration of life tommorrow at 4:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, I will attend that as a fellow cobra lover, friend and as member of club cobra, pray for his family. Chris |
Thanks for keeping us posted Chris and our deepest sympathies to the Wolf family for their tragic loss.................any news about the woman driver?
|
Hi Bob,
No change that I'm aware of. Nice to hear from you. Hope all is well. Chris |
As well as can be expected in todays economy.......may be moveing back to Sacto. at first of year............thanks for the info.
|
I attended the "Celebration of Life" for Charlie today. Nice words, warm people, pics of Charlie in his Cobra. I met his brother Steve, and his son Chris. I had not met them before. I told them both that our common thread was our cars, that created a great smile on their faces, to which both responded, "he loved his car".
Charlie will be missed and this world will be less kind without him. Rest in peace Charlie Wolf, from your comrades at Club Cobra . . . |
Chris...I don't know whether he was here or not. Good of you to let folks know. Thanks.
|
thanks Chris..........your a top notch guy......
|
This entire situation is very sad to say the least, I'm sure he will be missed especially everytime his family sees or thinks about a Cobra.
Hopefully there are lessons learned here, maybe this experience will help us all be more careful and considerate in the way we operate our cars. Bill |

Very sad news...RIP.
Like others have said, these cars can be very unforgiving. I have owned alot of fast cars, but none as dangerous as my SPF if not driven right.:( |
Hi guys,
Just thought I would let you know the driver, Linda Haupt, passed away. Our thoughts and prayers should be forwarded to them also. Chris |
Parting Note...
Hopefully they are now both up on a cloud resting, smiling, and with Charlie saying "See, I told you to take it easy on that curve...."
|
sad,sad news.........thanks Chris for the update.

It is terribly sad all around. There will be plenty of guilt and hard feelings between the families about the various "what if" scenarios. Was she driving to fast? Did she accellerate incorrectly? Maybe there was some debris on the road in the corner? Whew, my heart goes out to the families in trying to reconcile the variables here.
I recall at least two profound occasions when my Cobra "got sideways" and I was NOT driving aggressively! I was completely shocked at how easy and how fast it can happen. One time was on a road next to the beach (it's Hawaii, pick a road, any road) and a virtually invisible layer of light sand had blown onto the asphalt. I casually turned off the main road onto a side road and all hell broke loose! I stopped, checked, saw the sand, dang! Lucky I didn't hit anything or anyone. |
Found a Cobra Part
Hi I was at the scene of the accident after it had cleared and found o part to the car.
It was a cobra encast in a circle about 3.5 inch or more. Could it be a part of the wheel or stearing wheel possibly the horn. It is very nice silver cobra. evelyn |
Cobra's don't typically have the horn button in the center of the steering wheel. But many DO have a Cobra emblem to cover the center hole. The emblems are readily available through various sources on the net, come in a variety of colors and shapes for the Cobra and are fairly common.
Bear in mind these are replica emblems, not originals. |
evelyn22 that emblem is a sad reminder that two very fine people have left this world....pray for them....
