The death of the V8 in IRL
 
After 2012, the IRL will be moving to a 6 cylinder 2.4 liter power plant. Sign of the times...but sad. :(

That's OK .....current technology will still make them fast. Who knows maybe they will then Turbo them down the road?

buick had a V-6 in the series and won a few poles. They can make power just reliablity is the issue.

Yes the Offy was a bad ass motor. I think this will open the door for Ford/Cosworth. and others too make a serious come back to the Indy field.

They are going to be turbocharged. The best CART cars ever where the turbocharged cars they used in the late 90's before Tony George decided to launch his "all american drivers" series and killed open wheel racing for about 8 seasons.......

The best thing the IRL did was get rid of Tony George and bring in some guys that actually know what they are doing. I welcome the turbo's back....and I am excited for it!

No biggie I guess. They'll end up winding the piss out of those things to the point that they'll sound like F1 cars.

Next up, 6 banger NASCAR hybrid cars. :LOL:
