Open Drag Racing at Irwindale
Anyone take their Cobra to the open Thursdays at Irwindale for the 1/8 mile?
Me and my brother went last week to check it out. Fun. Also, a vendor is gonna take me on a ride in his (reader discretion advised) Chevy powered bug. I'd like to get a feel for the way it all works. We saw all types: Prius', Mini's, diesel trucks, Audi R8 and some Mopars that would make that toothless cousin we don't admit to having, turn Rallye Green with envy. The fastest pass I saw (it was early) was a turbo powered 80's Jag sedan. He hit 110 mph, don't remember his time, though. So, who goes? Anyone? I'm pretty sure we would need an arm restraint in a Cobra. And I don't know about the knockoffs. Might have to stick to private events. %/ |
I went a couple years ago, I think there was some sort of function going on like a car show? And there were lots of women walking around in various garb…good times!
