Shelby Cobra Challenge - Senior Racing Series

Does anyone know if this racing series is still on?

I found the original information at the Finish Line Motorsports, Inc. website, http://www.finishlinecobraslv.com/index.html

Here is their 2002 calendar:

RACE LOCATION COURSE TYPE RACE DATE
Laguna Seca, CA Road Course June 9
Portland, OR Road Course June 16
Toronto, Canada Street Course July 7
Cleveland, OH Temporary Course July 14
Mid-Ohio Road Course August 11
Road America Road Course August 18
Mexico City, Mexico Street Course October 13

Thanks,
Mike

Mike: I was wondering the same thing. I went to the PIR website, but found nothing specific to the Challenge series, which is sponsored in part by CART. It's scheduled for PIR the same weekend (June 16) as the Cup race, I believe.

Did the same on the CART website, found nothing, and finally shot them off an email asking about it.

I'll let you know what (if) I hear from them. All else fails, maybe call PIR and see what they know.

I definitely have that date marked on my calendar, anyhow.

Confusion

Tim,

Thanks. That's basically what has me confused. I saw an ad for the CART race and there was nothing mentioned about the Cobra series. There were other events listed.

Maybe I should send an email to Finishline.

Was down your way Saturday to check on my car. What a fantastic day! And I don't just mean the shop visit! The weather could not have been nicer. I think it was the first trip to the Bay without some rain!

Regards,
Mike

Mike:
I'm going to give the track manager at PIR a buzz, see what he knows. I'll pass along what I hear.

Have you got a completion date on the JCF yet?

John does good work; good work takes time. I like my SPF a lot, but I think I would have gone with John if I had it to do over again; his cars have really come a long ways since his first few efforts.

ETA

Tim,

Not postive on the ETA, my prayers are for delivery by June 1st but will have to see. Things are moving along. Maybe I should have you run by every day and "crack the whip!" For a fee of course. :3DSMILE:

Have you seen his new extended footbox? If not run by and check it out. I am 6'4" and should be very comfortable.

Not this year

Everyone,

I just spoke to a representative of promotions for The Shelby Cobra Challenge Senior Racing Series. He just confirmed that the race sechduled for June 16th in Portland has been canceled.

Thanks, Mike.

Had a hunch this would be the outcome.... too lofty an undertaking for mere mortals, I guess.

Tim:rolleyes:
